@OzLuke The Late John Chalk told me on the Night of the Merge Meeting that when they went to Parra all Fitzgerald wanted was the Tigers Brand - no staff, or players just the Tiger! He even had a baseball cap with the Parramatta Tigers logo embroidered on it!.

No colours either, they were to be the Parramatta Tigers playing in Blue and Gold!

Nah ...
Are you for real ?

Lol

Would love to see some old artist renditions !

Put the bong down, Fitzgerald.

They feel Wests Ashfield have betrayed the Magpies.....It's a small but vocal minority ..that like both sides have never truly accepted the JV..

Probably not but they do vote...most are members of the football club and Wests Ashfield..

They have the power to vote so if there is enough of them they could derail this!

That’s a worry. Hopefully, as suggested by others, there’s not many of them

@Geo
Lets all forget about the past WESTS TIGERS are the result of the amalgamation of two great clubs Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies which sadly would only be a memory if the amalgamation had not taken place. We can be the envy of most clubs in the NRL with great support of one of the power house clubs in NSW WESTS ASHFIELD and two strong junior leagues as well as Group 6 to draw from.As I said before the establishment of the West Tigers Leagues Club is no brainer not only will it get rid of the eyesore on Victoria Rd it will give supporters a home to celebrate victories at Leichhardt Oval lets get it happening.

If West’s want to rebadge the Tigers to Magpies the Heritage agreement won’t stop anything. The simple reality is the team have been known to a whole generation of fans as West’s Tigers. It’s commercially beneficial to the West’s Group.
Roy Masters article was interesting regarding West’s Ashfield reducing their grant in line with the Victa Sponsorship years ago and West’s Campbeltown backing Balmain.

The powerhouse of the group West’s Ashfield taking control is the best outcome for the Footy Club. The old Tiger Vs Magpie argument is dead in the water financial return is all that matters for them. As it should.

Wests Ashfield have the Wests Tigers logo plastered over the Leagues Club now as it is...they do not want the Magpies back ..

Their clientele love the Tiger..lucky 88

Exactly what I was saying it makes commercial sense. I’d prefer a Magpie to be honest More Australian.

There's a handful... This issue has seen a few emerge lately, they still use bank books and queue to pay the electricity bill at the post office

I for one can certainly understand Wests Magpies supporters, of which I have been one since 1963, being upset/let down by the JV finally coming together fully apparently.
Wests Magpies Leagues Club Ashfield was the original supporter of Wests Magpies Football Team.
As I have lived in a regional area of N.S.W. for many years, I haven't been to Wests Ashfield for many years. But from a previous post, it seems the Magpie has been deleted there.
Armies have always marched, fort and died under their flag, a flag in which they have immense pride and loyalty. But now there is no Magpie flag to fight for. It's been replaced with a Tiger flag/emblem.
Right now and suddenly, things just aren't adding up anymore.
The [for the want of a better word] vanquished being Balmain, has actually ended up as the victor, or that's the way it seems to me rite now.
I hope my words are NOT taken as a Magpies V Balmain thing as that is certainly not my intention.
But I DO hope all you Balmain supporters realise how lucky you are, with the Tiger going ahead in perpetuity, while the Magpie is basically no more, having been relegated to the anonymity of the CC.

@MAGPIES1963 I dont often disagree with what you say but you are wrong to call people like me "Balmain supporters" i used to support Balmain Tigers for a long time but now i support Wests Tigers. Both foundation clubs had no choice but to merge and our name is the result of that.
As for fighting and dying under the flag that is a very long bow you are drawing there in comparison. There is an old adage "United we stand divided we fall" make no mistake it applies to us more than any other club in the NRL.As a joint venture we have a future as a single entity zero.Neither Balmain Tigers or Wests Magpies could survive it is not just about money it is about having a strong market value in a crowded market and as Wests Tigers we do.
No offence intended

I feel @MAGPIES1963‘s honest and raw opinions deserved a better response than this. Respectful debate is what we’re about

The magpie has not been deleted, it is still on Wests Ashfield, it just has it's brother a Western Suburbs version of the Tiger up there with it as it should be!

Your use of the words vanquished and victor is what ultimately what confines your post to being a Magpies vs Balmain post! I am thankful to Wests Ashfield, not for saving the Balmain Tigers but for supporting my team the Wests Tigers. The Magpies are not lost, they are part of the DNA of the Wests Tigers, just a shame that you and other cannot see that, and have to continue with the Magpies v Balmain rubbish.
