Balmain & Western Suburbs Junior Rep Teams 2011

Does anyone want to have a go at the possible starting line ups for both Wests and Balmains Matts and Ball teams, I'd imagine that the squads would have been picked by now and it would be good to get an idea of possible line ups.

Balmain SG Ball hasn't had a trial yet due to the washout against Norths, it would be a bit hard to pick a side with so many new kids from outside in the current squad, I believe that they will pick mainly older kids but I can see quite a few of the younger brigade making the squad.

Wests would like to Congratulate the following
players for being selected for the Harold Matthews 2011 Squad.

Makaere Bush
Mason Cerruto
Aurthur Currie
Brent Downey
Maliko Filino
Brock Foley
Mitchell Gough
David Green
Matt Harris
Tom Harris
Jermaine Haule
Bronson Hooper
Adriel Iupeli
Brad Later
Jermaine Laure
Maurangi Maurangi
Edward Pickering
Max Saolatoga
Jarred Sheehan
Sinapati Solia
Tommy Tavae
Mitchell Toovey
Lewis Tucker
Paul Vaii
Robert Vai
Chris Vaotuua

SG Ball 2011 squad announced soon

Here is my go at what the top Balmain SG Ball side might look like, I have mostly named the older kids and have not really seen a few of them play so there is quite a bit of assumption involved.

1 Mason Farrell
2 Matt Carma
3 Ngamanu Winitana
4 Shane Beale
5 Paul Simona
6 Braiden Batiste
7 Jack Madden
8 John Leapai
9 Luke Bonnell
10 Palu Mahe
11 Tylon Tanuvasa
12 Blake Segar
13 Kyle Lovett

Is Bonnell related to the bloke that used to play for Wests in the junior reps?

Luke was Wests Matts captain last year and is a tackling machine, his brother Jay played reps for Wests and Balmain. Balmain do have 3 or 4 ex Wests players that have seen the light, LOL.

Cheers for the info flash. I remember Jay from his junior days. A lot of talent in the McClinden mould. Hope he is still with us.

Does anyone know what is happening with Sonny Bristow, have WT got him with the 20's I notice he wasn't mentioned on the WT website and I heard he hasn't been to Wests Ball training lately.

Sonny Bristow who played SG Ball for Wests last year and was our top rated 17 year old forward is now with the NZ Warriors 20's.

Wests SG ball will have a terrific backline this year with most of last years team backing up again unfortunately with Sonny now gone and Jake Townsend struggling with his return after a broken leg in 2009 the forwards just don't look strong this year.

Jay Bonnell is still with us in the 20's unfortunately he didn't have a good year last year and struggled to make the Wests SG ball team before going over to Balmain and further bad luck over there where he picked up an injury.

A pity to lose Sonny. I believe he is related to rusty bristow who played for nz nyc in 2009 so i guess theres something of an nz connection there. didnt sonny begin his footy in the penrith system…maybe he's looking to break arana taumata's record? best of luck to him and im sure whoever takes his place will hav a great season

I hear that Balmain SG have 3 ex Wests forwards, 2 of them were in the Cubs squad last year. I Imagine they must be pretty good to make Cubs why would Wests not have them if they are weak in the forwards.

Luke Bonnell is obviously one of them, not sure who the other 2 are though.

Hope Bristow doesn't come back to bite us. Showed a lot promise in Matts. Very talented player.

Townsend seemed to be carrying a lot of weight last season. Hopefully he can get back to peak fitness.

As I said before backline picks itself…The forwards I just don't know...Williams has bought over his own players from outside the district maybe there is a hooker, frontrower and and a spare lock in that group.

1 James Tedesco - **SG Ball** + Aust Schoolboy 2010
2 Sou Kamuta - HMatts + Tiger cub 2010
3 Crete Wakka - **SG Ball** 2010
4 David Nofoaluma - **SG Ball** + Aust Schoolboy 2010

6 Mitchell Brasington - **SG Ball** + Tiger cub 2010
7 David Atuau - **SG Ball** + Tiger cub 2010

8 Jake Townsend - HMatts + NSW U16's 2009
9 Billy Kitt - HMatts + Tiger cub 2010
10 Pale Tanumalev - **SG Ball** 2010
11 Daniel Alterio - HMatts + Tiger cub 2010
12 Matthew Etchell - HMatts 2009
13 Shane Lalogafau - **SG ball** 2010

I see what you mean about the backs, some good players there. 6 of the youger kids in the top side though might struggle against some of the bigger teams but you never know.

The other ex Wests kids that are at Balmain are Tylon Tanuvasa ex Cub, Ngamanu Winatana SG 2010 and Lecki (sorry don't know his last name) who played Matts for SWAS.

Got the Tigers Matts squad flash?
Apparently a fair few 15's in the summer squad and one 14 who plays up a grade

Innsaneink, these are the kids I know are in the squad but there are a few from out of district that i don't know. Been told they are very strong in the forwards but lack a bit of size in the backs.

Joshua Khoury
Peter Semaan
Fasoia Tatola
Nick Bell
Rhys Armstrong
Misielli Viakeli
Taniella Siale
Ola Moala
Chris Moana
Dane Clifford
Saxon Marketo
Junior Tatola - Faseos younger brother may be the young one you mentioned
Jayden Wheelhouse
Brad Speechley
Matthew Woods

I hear the forwards will be the heart and soul of the side…....its funny how complete opposite stories get circulated...lol....I' guess we'll find out in a few weeks.
