Balmain & Western Suburbs Junior Rep Teams 2011

Believe Balmain Matts won 4-3 after getting off to a slow start. Once they put their best team on they looked good.
 
Why is it I'm reading all these other teams played trials last weekend, yet Manly pulled out on Wests, then Central Coast, Penrith and Parra did the same when the Magpies tried to re-schedule something…...

The Magpies have a trial booked against Cronulla this weekend.....Although I believe the Sharks played last night against the Dogs, so wouldnt surprise me if they pulled out for Saturday.....Ordinary form if they do considering its been on the calendar for two months and would leave the Magpies underdone IMO going into Round 1 against the Dragons.
 
For all those interested the mighty tigers are playing penrith at TG Milner this saturday starting at 4.30pm for the 17s Development, Matts at 5.30pm and Ball at 6.30pm get out and support the boys.
 
Last week the Wests Magpies Harold Matts played against SWSAS but the SG ball trial was canceled against Manly because of the heat.

Wests will play Cronulla this Saturday night at Campbelltown Showground.

hey barefoot1 i'm sure i saw you at redfern on sat and as well as south coast. which boy is yours seems like the 7 or 10 although you give good raps to 7 so i tend to think he's yours. we all change identity to put off loyal followers that we just don't give the best raps to our own sons. Incorrect assumption. I was told that the 7 and 9 won best back and best forward in game 1 and the 7 and 10 won best back and best forward in game 2, THATS FACT. Thats where the comments come from (the truth). In fact I thought the 10 was best all day stood up against a very big Dogs pack and kept taking the ball forward.

Given you were at both games (so you said) who is your boy then, will you tell us? ( i don't think you will, will you) because you wouldn't go to both games if you didnt have a boy in the side would you?

Any way keep guessing there are only so many players in the team.
 
Decided to brave the bad weather and head out to the game today at TG Milner. Not a bad day for the tigers, great defensive work in all grades with some promising attack at times.

17s won 6-0 Matts drew 4 all and the SG Ball lost 8-4 against a highly fancied Penrith ball side.

Handling was average as would be expected given the rain prior to and during the game, and the refs really blew the pea out of the whistle with a heap of penalties for incorrect play the balls.

From a balmain point of view the 1, 9, 15 and 8 were good for the tigers in the 17s, the 10, 12 were best for the Matts and the 11, was the best for the Ball with the 14, 9 and 1 not too far behind.

The Ball will go pretty well this year and perhaps surprise a few.

It's a St George home game originally meant to be at OKI (doki) Jubilee, Kogarah.

The Magpies play the Dogs in Week 2, so it'll be interesting to see where they schedule that game.

Which genius at Parramatta decided to organise their two games against Balmain at the same time as Balmain State Cup and Wests Tigers NYC and First Grade take on Parramatta in State Cup, NYC and First Grade???

Seems a touch illogical to me….......

thanks for the update i doubt st george will be one of the gun teams this year in hm and sg ball.wonder whether it was fitness or something else in the second half that led to saints comeback in hm.

Balmain 26 (Tries Paul Simona 2, Jack Madden 1, Goals Shane Beal 7 from 7)

Shane Beal was outstanding kicked goals from everywhere plus set up Simona's first try, Mitchell Moses played the second half and also killed them, his defence and speed out of dummy half had parra reeling. The Tigers led 26-18 with 4 minutes to go before a mistake by Balmain from a Parra kick let them back in to the game. They scored from the GL drop out and then again off the next set, luckily for Balmain there was no time left as it could have ended in a tragic loss.

Best for Balmain Beal, Moses, Paul Simona, Daniel Rakvin and Kyle Lovett. Moses, Simona and Rakvin all are the year younger so a great effort from these boys.
