Given the extent of corruption in NSW politics over the past decade, accepting a bottle of grange from a lobbyist is very much at the minor end.

Of course it is Larry, glad to see someone provide a little clarity.

Everyone complains about not being able to sign big name players but no one wants a go getter from the big end of town who may be able to use his contacts and profile to make this happen.

Precious bunch.

He's proved that he's open to backhanders and is corrupt, you may think that it is at the lower end of the scale, but how does anyone know that that was the limit of his corruption,
You are either corrupt ot you aren't, there are plenty of businessman around that are honest as well as astute, and wouldn't divide the club as Ofarrell would,
And once we signed him it would be too late to start regretting It at a later date

Let's be clear, Barry was not found to be corrupt in any way shape or form.

He did what was probably the most honourable that a pollie has done one recent memory, and resign the moment he realised he had misled the inquiry.

It was a shock to the most senior political reporters that he stood down for what amounted to nothing,

And would make you wonder why he quit for such a minor thing

Probably because some searching would of found far worse

Or maybe he is a man of integrity. When he realised a mistake had be made he resigned rather than cover it up or say so what.

Accidental TT.

Hit submit and keep getting a "This page can't be displayed" prompt. Happens when I click on every second thread. Real pain the A.

Apologies.

I'm all for him. Many many contacts and thats what we need.Woudnt it be nice to have some third party sponsors help us recruit !.

We might get NSW Government to be TPS, and get them to tip in a few million to upgrade our stadiums.
Barry will not get the CEO job due to his close association with Nick Di Girolamo.

Don't need an ex-politician who is a Tigers fanatic (I've seen him at one game) possibly because of his contacts although I would wonder how many dumped him once he was no longer premier. Let the recruitment mob do their bit and see if they can find the best person for the job who hopefully has some idea about rugby league as well.

My biggest problem I'd that he's prepared to lie( like most politicians) to get himself off the hook when there's trouble

The thing is he didn't lie .
They asked him about something that happened a few years earlier and he told them what he remembered - when proved wrong he resigned because he believed in accountability (didn't even try and get off the hook).
Anyone who has ever been involved in the big end of town will know corporate gifts are plentiful - you would be hard pressed to remember everything .
That he forgot a 28 second phone call from 2 years earlier?
How many calls do you think the premier would take every year?
As for business forgetting him - just about any prominent politician from either party is courted by big business as soon as they're out.

Barry Barry Barry never made a hard descision O'Farrell ,with major issues to be worked through that is all you need a fence sitter.

Maybe the reason the club has failed to grow is because we sign nobodies, with no connections but good intentions to our senior management positions.

Do you all really think the large and successful clubs do everything by the book, and don't push and sometimes overstep boundaries at every opportunity? Why should we always play it safe, be the poor and honest little choir boys and make no money and lose? We need to enter the real game if we want to be a serious club.

There may be someone better than Barry out there, but he would certainly be by far the best qualified person for the role we've ever had.

All hypothetical still at this stage.
