Yeah Joey is here with me, so my sit in has more people than your petition.

Now I’m not condoning we keep Benji for next year at all, I think he should retire gracefully also, but I just have a serious question - does anyone really think we would‘ve even been in that game last night without his contribution? I sure as hell don’t! Most of our points came directly from him. He did some dopey things for sure (not the least that early kick), but he was also the main one laying on our tries. I don’t know where our attacking spark is going to come from next season with neither Benji or Grant playing for us.

He's a roadblock to any other opportunity. That's the problem. Get rid of the loser and start afresh. He's been in the way for almost ten years wherever he goes. People forget just how bad he's been on field because he's good in front of the camera. I don't know what his win/loss ratio is but it'd be in the negative for sure.

That’s all very well to say that, but who’s way is he blocking? Brooks? Walters? Reynolds? Are they gonna be our major playmakers next season? Is Madden ready? We could try Doueihi at 5/8 I suppose, may as well try yet another partner to see if they can spark Brooks into doing something.

All of the above and any potential other player that may be out there at any given time. Players know if he is in the club, they probably wont get a look in. If the others are given a chance over a period of weeks, months, years as he has, then maybe things could work out. Benji has had so many chances, over so many years and failed almost every single season. Any or all of those others would be (on balance) at least as good as he is. They're definitely not worse. I'd literally have any other half currently in the comp than him. Anyone at all.

Fair enough, but it still doesn’t negate the fact that we wouldn’t have been in that game at all last night without his contribution. I honestly don’t know how people can’t see that.

You literally can't guarantee that. Who knows what would have happened? Different players, different game. I know for sure that not one other player would have been so stupid or arrogant as to kick the ball out the back with 3 minutes to go to kill the game. Nobody. He throws a forward pass for a try - nobody says anything. He throws an uncatchable ball to his winger and it's the wingers fault. It's sickening to watch and listen to. The media love fest for this idiot is beyond comprehension.

Problem is Benji demands the ball and brooks has been to scared to override him, last week Benji put in another nothing kick we were lucky that the Manly player slid and could not cover it up. If you notice in the set leading to the final try Brooks demanded the ball, kicked across field and we scored.

I won't disagree he does some good things in attack but also he is a major liability in D which is what Madge wants the Tigers game to evolve into, lets move forward.

We had a great opportunity and Benji puts in a nothing kick on the 3rd tackle when he should have let brooks take charge again it shows he does not allow others to shine.

I rate Benji but there comes a time when you realise that some players just won’t get us to the top 8 anymore - he falls into that category purely because of his defence. He is targeted every week and we simply can’t cover him.

Attack is brilliant and it fills me with fear when I look at the options to replace him. None have the sleight of hand. Or subtlety that he has.

I have often wondered about that as well. It’s like getting rid of a coach - you don’t do it unless you have someone better lined up. From a defensive point of view, the others would have it over him. Do I see them have his vision in attack? Not so much.

I am happy for Benji to move on. I just don’t see a replacement in the line up we have and will probably mean us having to go to market.
