I've got to admit i'm not sure what to make of Benji taking a week off . Initially i took it as nothing. I'm sure most players would have the best part of the week off anyways, unless injured, I've heard some try to skew the situation out of line. What concerns me more is Marshall's role in all this lately. 3-4 weeks ago Benji was keeping it quiet, "leaving it up to my manager" and that he would look at it after the sharks game.
However in the past week he's done nothing but harp on about it. It's interesting that a guy who only 4-5 weeks ago pulled himself from the footy show for the time being, then re-appeared on that show the night before a game (which i thought was not club protocol??). Then to make it worse all he did was talk about all this, painting the club in a bad light. All the hallmarks are there of a guy who's not happy, plays the victim and probably knows he won't get his way..
As some have already suggested, no player is bigger than the club. We will breed a new star player at some point and Benji will become yesterday's news at some point. We don't need to move heaven and earth for him. Most of all we need to protect our long term best interests.
