Benji Marshall - Official..

As other people have said…. you just can't please some people. This is great news for the following:
1\. He's good enough for the bronco's (top 4) this year playing a specific role that he can play for us but some are still naysaying
2\. Even at 32 (?) he is light years better than JLJ
3\. He will provide quality depth, something we haven't had for years and put some pressure on the halves
4\. He will, I think, be a great mentor for brooks, LoLo and other PacIslanders

On top of this the publicity and $$ he will bring in will not have an equal
And if by chance it does all blow up - it's a one year deal
Great signing in every way -

Put it this way, he won't be any worse than Idris has been whose also been on a one year deal. It's smart signing him for a year. If he works out, we could offer him for something for 2019 too. If he's a bust, we have plenty of other options available. For those reasons, it's a pretty safe purchase.

Anyone think the grub to play 9??

Welcome back benji!!!!

I've always thought Reynolds would be a gun hooker. Benji has made it clear in previous interviews he wants to focus on his strengths which is his running game. So that gives him 6 or 1\. I reckon Reynolds deserves first shot at 6, but if Lolohea struggles with 1, then I'd try him there. Realistically he is a back up so if brooks or Reynolds get injured or play really bad we have someone half decent.

I think it's a great thing for the club at so many levels, especially at the price tag. Cleary is not silly enough to play him unless he earns it, so where he plays doesn't worry me. For mine Benji is synonymous with so many fantastic memories of the Wests Tigers.
Also everyone 's so quick to burn the guy - people forget what a player he was in his heyday. He changed the face of the game and did things that no one had ever seen in NRL. The guy is a legend and I reckon having him back at the club for his last year and giving him a fitting exit is well worth the investment. Also it's a terrific way to bring back some more pride, spirit and culture to the place.

Great News next year its going to be all about jelling new team members i see this as a great move in getting the experienced and rookie players together with this icon of the game providing energy, positive media and a great back up for our spine. Just hope Benji isn't so happy that he starts back at Maccas and blows out in weight. Love the Buy Ivan

Hopefully he has grown up in his time away from the club

In what way? Apart from his Auckland Blues announcement (which he admits he handled badly) he has not put a foot wrong IMO. The Macca's incident was a non-issue. Considering he grew up in a football club from age 17 or so he has handled himself magnificently. Compare him to mungbeans like Ferguson, Dugan, Carney, Pearce etc.
Welcome back Benj, a very feel-good announcement for our club. Looking forward to seeing him on the paddock next year.

Reynolds can play hooker, so throw that into your calculations as well. You could move Marshall to 5/8th and Reynolds to hooker to give Liddle a rest.

I think that Reynolds started his career in the NRL as a number 9.

Hey Maxxy86 - I am with you on Reynolds at 9 and have been saying it since we announced him. I can see him fit that role very well (actually I see him better as a 9 than a 6) and got really excited when the talk of Watson was going around as I could see him take the 6 spot. Now I'm not sure who might play 6, whether Benji's still got the legs, maybe not - anyhow Reynolds at 9 certainly is worth considering.
