Benji, this is your chance

If Galvin has his sights playing in a better system with stronger more successful teams then he will leave regardless.
Great squads and strong management make successful coaches. Lachlan is a desirable player - he is always going to have options and a club thats only action is to sack coaches on the back of a weak squad is never going to appeal to a player who can line up besides teams that can compete.
How many coaches did Brooks have here?

it might have helped though retaining him if they had a better year next year with Luia joining … they were never going to be winning the premiership..but could have convinced him too stay with a mid table performance …that looks unlikely now with what is unfolding so far ..I think it will be prove to be a loss as big as Teddy and Moses if it happens …

Brooks is irrelevant..although he is looking ok under a new coach this year isn’t he?

Same side will be named if available. Benji was a shit player 75% of the time. Seems to be even shitter as a coach.
Shit player 75% of the time! Was that when he was winning golden boot awards, test series, and individually winning games for Tigers. I must have only watched him play 15% of his career, if he was some soft cock pommie that would have made a gold statue of him and named a stadium and mall after him. Jesus wept.

It's tough on the defence and attack when every week we are bringing in and dropping players, plus the fact we are fielding a really young side who most wouldn't have even debuted for another season or two at other clubs. We have no continuity I can't remember the last time we fielded the same squad two weeks in a row.
Or played a full game with 13 on the field - regularly resulting in points against us.

Give Marshall another season with some new players eg Luai, Turuva and I imagine some others. The young players will be better and stronger after another pre season. If after another season there is no progress then make the call. Sacking him now would be plain dumb.
Imaginary others?

Of all our problems. John Morris isn't one of them.

Maybe he is overhyped. But I have seen our defense improve, not drastically but significantly.

Yes Sheens and Benji have done great in the recruitment department. What they haven't done is transfer that into onfield performance.
How can you say defence has improved with 4 successive games conceding 40 points or more?

In 2022 after 20 rounds we had let in 477 points in 19 games or 25.1 points/game
In 2023 after 20 rounds we had let in 464 points in 17 games or 27.3 points/game
In 2024 after 20 rounds we have let in 538 points in 18 games or 29.9 points/game

Of our spoon collection years, 2024 is our worst effort defence wise. This is despite heavily focusing on improving it all off season with the best lineup of all 3 years.

Remberberries that time they were concentrating on defence...........for the last half a decade. FMD, id hate to see the stats if they weren't focusing on defence.

Would be great to compare them at 10 and 15 games. I suspect it’s blown out after starting better than previous seasons No excuses. NRL is over 27 rounds.

How’d you get those stats?

Cheers for that!

Its pretty evident that our defence usually gets worse around the halfway mark and continues declining from then on.
However in 2022 we had a coaching change at this time. In 2023 the coaching change came later in the season yet disruptions and rumour were there much earlier. These arent excuses, but are small reasons.
No such thing this year, yet after going all in on defence we have slipped from 22.4/game after 10 rounds to 25.7/game after 15 rounds and currently sit at 29.9/game after 20 rounds. This is unacceptable. On average, we need 5 tries to win. We cop some more floggings this year and we could be looking at our worst ever defensive season in the NRL era.

At our current rate of decline we will end up conceding over 30 points a game for the season.A new club record that we don't want or need
