Big name player in trouble

Do we not have any decent rehab centres in Australia ??

Its more Rooster-style to go Hollywood.
The whole concept of getting him out of Australia is to lessen the hype and exposure around him so that when he finally slinks his sorry arse back into the country the matter will have blown over and been forgotten about so he will get off scot-free. One wonders what the outcome and punishment would have been for some ordinary Joe Blow from another club who brought such shame on the NRL…..he would never ever be seen again in the NRL you can bet your house on it.

Absolutely right FTB. I guess the old saying of " What's good for the goose is good for the gander" doesn't apply here. 😕

The loss of privacy is a big concern.

But given those evenings events are public now, I'm more disgusted at how little has been said about the blatant racism among a group of young people on Australia Day.

If anything, the video suggests how far this country still has to go to mature as a nation.

Good point Guy.

Pearce had to go and probably won't be back this season. The NRL would be dong him a favour by suspending him for 12 months.

I can't go a day without a Meme with Pearce and a Poodle the bloke has just been shamed publicly. People will give it to him everywhere he goes.

Forgot about Footy when you think about the video it insulted Women, Animal Rights Groups, Gay Groups and Indigenous Australians. Imagine you did this at work what would occur? We live in a politically correct world if he plays again this year NRL would look foolish if they did not take action and had a Women In League round.

You have to wonder whether rehab will do him any good.

Exactly, and there will be plenty wondering about that. Pearce's first problem is that he is an arrogant person by nature. Second problem is that unless he swears off the drink, he'll probably always be a goose when he's drunk.

Wayne Pearce breaks silence on son Mitchell Pearce’s off-field controversy

WAYNE Pearce has broken his silence on his son Mitchell’s off-field controversy declaring the crestfallen NSW State of Origin and Sydney Roosters co-captain will return from alcohol rehabilitation “better than ever.’’

On an eventful day for the code which saw Pearce reappointed on the ARL commission for a further three-year term and NRL chief operating officer Suzanne Young resign, the former Balmain legend opened up about how he saw no conflict in his role as a loving father and as an influential figure in the game.

It has been seven days since an emotional Mitchell confessed to having a problem with alcohol, resulting in his departure to a rehab facility in the US.

How the NRL handles any punishment of Mitchell for his role in a lewd video which landed him in hot water has led to some calls that Pearce could be forced to stand down from the commission.

However, Pearce declared that he never once considered resigning from his key role as one of eight commissioners.

“It’s pretty easy really (to separate being a father and a commissioner),’’ Pearce said.

“Anyone that has kids knows what responsibilities come with that. But from my perspective it’s happened, Mitchell’s getting treatment for his situation and I’m confident he’ll come back better than ever.

“It’s been a challenging past week, but I’ve really enjoyed being on the commission and I feel like I’ve got little bit more to contribute yet.

“So I nominated again and I got reappointed again, I’m really keen.

“It was a bit of a rough patch, but that’s okay.’’

Pearce chose his words carefully when asked how he felt about the drama which has railroaded his son’s flourishing NRL career.

“I’m pragmatic, but obviously as a parent and someone on the commission I’m disappointed with what happened,’’ Pearce said.

“But from my point of view, Mitchell is in rehab and getting some proper care and I’m confident he’ll come out the other end better than ever.’’

Pearce also confirmed that he was yet to communicate with his son since his arrival in the US.

“No I haven’t (spoken to him),” he said.

“The treatment program doesn’t allow that except for certain particular times but I’d rather not go into that.’’

Despite Young’s departure from NRL HQ after just 15-months, Pearce said the increasing exodus of staff at the NRL was “like any other company, or job.”

“If you’re in an environment where people are growing and developing and get other opportunities, I think it’s healthy,’’ Pearce said.

The Daily Telegraph has learned that there could be further departures from League Central led by NRL head of marketing, digital and content Lewis Pullen, who is believed to be contemplating his ongoing tenure in the game.

Young’s decision to resign leaves the NRL in the unsettled position without a COO and chief executive.

ARL chairman John Grant told all 16 club chief executives that it would be at least another eight weeks before a replacement for former CEO Dave Smith can be confirmed.

I still think there is a massive cover up job going on with the Chooks and The NRL up to their eye balls. You do not get a bloke out of the country that quick without a reason. Not saying Junior senior is involved, but it seems on the nose to me

In today's Sun Herald it is reported he is rehabbing in northern Thailand, maybe at this joint: http://www.thecabinchiangmai.com/australians-find-quality-addiction-treatment-at-the-cabin-2?gclid=CPiD88mk5MoCFVgnvQodL7cJMQ

Top resort and save a packet compared to America.

Honestly BBF, I for one don't care where Mitch is hanging out, or how much money he might be saving.

well it had good gym and pools, green grass to train on, **pretty masseurs** - he should be able to keep fit there and not lonesome.

Cool if thats how you roll. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Make sure you check the goods before you commit.

I was thinking he was just a drop kick who liked a drink. After reading Jnrs comments it had me thinking he may actually have some serious non alcoholic issues.

Mightn't be on Topic but one of Manly's major Off season signings in a former Rabbitohs/Panthers hooker has been charged with entering a premises illegally, seems he has had a personal tragedy recently.
