Blake Austin in 2015

Blake proved himself once again today that he is a superb NRL talent, what a great effort he put in today…I even heard Potter say in the press conf when asked about Blakes future,Potter said as far as I'm concerned he is contracted to us and here he stays,I may have heard wrong but it sounds pretty good

Austin is an NRL player simple as that. IMO he is the WT player of the year for 2014!

The issue is he sees himself as a 5/8…and the WT see Mosses as their 5/8...this could be the only reason he leaves us....

If he bulks up a tad he could turn into a very good lock..much better than Blair or Sue,,,but that's not where he wants to play...sop he could be outta here sadly.

this is a non issue. Austin was signed on a 2 year deal so he is still with us for 2015.

There is no reason to allow him to leave, he is probably our form players of 2014 in terms of attack. it would be stupid to allow him to leave on that basis.

We have gotten rid of a number of the under-performing deadwood so salary cap should not be an issue.

And lastly….Austin is our best half/pivot at the moment. Both Brooks & Moses are at least a couple of years behind Austin. Even if all players were fit Austin would be my first choice for 5/8\. He is a running 5/8 and both brooks and moses are not and you need diversity in the side.

Anyway if the Tigers are stupid enough to let Austin go well I have to question if they should even be in the NRL.

On the positives.....good to see Siro have a strong game today...along with Taupau, Lodge and others 2015 could be a decent year if we can fix the Admin up.

I could be wrong, but when Moses got the 6 over Austin when we were still in with a chance at the 8, I didn't believe that that was a Potter call and I don't believe it will be a Potter call to let him go or stay.

Potter won't be there so it will be up to the board or our next coach.

Austin is the real deal…..not saying that moses and brooks are not capable but in a season where injuries happen a lot it would be good to have depth in that area.

Austin should be a priority to keep.

Blake put in another first class effort today. Brought us back into the game with his wholehearted display. Inspiration game by a real Tiger….with Blake and the rest of the team, the Tigers showed a glimmer of brighter days ahead. Sick and tired of all the negatives about our club. Looking forward to a bright 2015 for the Tigers.

Mayer is a germ who failed both the fans and the club during the media turmoil. Who cares if he answers, he is a sycophant.

Yesterday Austin again showed just how valuable a player he is, and once again one of his better games was when he was not playing in the halves. For mine, his running game in space, coupled with the creativity of Moses should put to bed the debate over who should be our six, as Mitchell is that player.

Blake has had a good and consistent season for us, with his better performances, and generally that of the team, being when he was either playing at the back, in the nine, or off the bench. He may see himself as a six, and goes okay there, but regardless of the individual effort or statistics, we were much better as a team when Anasta wore the jersey. Unless one is wearing blinkers, a quick look back at our season will confirm the above.

Austin has shown his true value is as a top class utility and will be a regular in the side somewhere, probably also seeing a bit of time in the halves covering for injuries next year. I would like that regular somewhere to be at centre after an off season training there to brush up on the defensive nuances of the position.

What Blake Austin has shown me is he is a Captain in waiting ,when the rubbish hit the fan the guy had the right stuff, just went out there every week and played his guts out for himself the team and his jersey.
This is the type of personality I want to be the captain of the team I support, congratulations Blake on showing what the right stuff is all about.

If it was up to me I would keep Austin over ANY other player in the squad.

As i mentioned previously he earned the spot in the trials and then state cup when he was continually overlooked for waste of space Anasta.

I just don't understand why the coaching staff saw it differently.

He has one good year in first grade and thinks he now has the right to demanding conditions. What about all those years he did sfa for panthers.

It he demanding anything ? Its another media story.

Does anyone actually know what Austin has requested.

Did he ask if it was ok to transfer to better his family and career?

Or did he demand the 5/8th or he wants to go elsewhere.

I don't see where people get all sooky about this. I know myself I would be asking for a release if I was working mail room as a mail boy and someone else offered me CEO. You cant blame him for asking. Its a given.

I would let him go in a heart beat instead of making him stay as the mail boy.

Why would you let Austin go!
Heres hoping someone at Wests can start making some forward thinking decisions!
Is inside centre outta the question,he likes space, maybe Teddy outside hime playing a Jennings type role?
Anyway why rush Moses when we have an Austin.
