Sorry , how can some one get excited about someone who didn't crack it at Penrith and only looks a gun when he is playing NSW CUP

I'll wait until he shows his worth as our 6 in top grade

Because he is at the beginning of his career with a good bit of potential.

He has been set back by injuries a number of times, but mid 2012 was rated high enough to be given a $700k 2 year deal which isn't bad for a rookie, Gus' player clean out meant he left mid contract, no idea if Panthers are picking up some of the bill for him.

He has been on the horizon of first grade for a while now, be good to see what he can achieve with Tigers.

And now Penrith think that Soward is a better option 😱pen_mouth:

That does say something

Yes, it says that Gus doesn't know how to recruit.

Lets just wait and see how he goes fellows ,how he has gone does not matter. His a Tiger now,he will be given a opportunity at some stage in 2014 and I look forward to it with anticipation to see how he goes. Good luck Mr Austin

Gus would have one of the most intelligent football minds in the game .

I watched Blake's Fresh Meat interview with Freddy and some of the comments seems like he was trying to find shortcuts to making it , how you could cruise in NYC etc I never played at anywhere near NRL level , but I know I always wanted to destroy the opposition and never was looking at cruising through games

I dunno he just reminds me of smaller version of John Sutton , that he will go great once you have the perfect side around him That might take a few years

I agree, I defend Gus all the time. But I don't believe he is the most astute recruiter in the game. He has shown this many times including Souths upon re-entry when he was asked to help build the team from scratch.

That doesn't mean that I think Austin will be something great, just the same as Gus letting him go to get Soward doesn't mean Austin will be a bust.

Excited by the potential, and he has it.

Yes to much can he ..will he ..maybe he won't be ,has promise that will do me .

been fortunate to see a number of his games this year and he's good. just as good as issac john whos currently in the 6 at penrith…

good addition, he's a natural 6 (even though he has said otherwise) and will compliment brooks well.

Penrith fans see him as a Wade Graham 2.0, seeing we already have Sironen who is a Wade type player I think Austin should be kept at 5/8.

He was a great mind, but he stopped advancing at the turn of the millennium, he has not kept pace, he barely understands the modern interpretations of the rules.

Austin is one of those signings that was not met with much fan fare but I think will be a great one. I just think he is at a point where he has to perform or perish into obscurity and I think will cement a spot in the top grade and rid us of braith!!! Can't wait for next year

Surely braith will start at six next year.

If braith starts at 6 it better be on trial form and not because we need an experienced half outside brooks. We need the team on form not former reputation. I am opened minded but he will need to lift drastically to hold out a few who I feel will be better options!

I wouldn't be penciling him in just yet.

what kind of perfect world do you live in?

Braith ego alone will ensure he starts at six.

Spoke to a Penrith mate yesterday and asked him about Blake….he's filthy they let him go and is adamant he's a gun.

Hope he's right.

Talking to a bloke who plays golf with Anasta and Braith told him he will be the starting no 6 in 2014 and is excited about all the young talent in the club and also liked the new coaching setup.Take it with a grain of salt, but I would like the club to pick the player who is in the best form,be it Moltzen,Austen,Anasta or who ever. I dont want to go down the Sheens track again where their are 16 automatic selections every week

Absolutely, Braith hasn't earned the right to a walk up start. Who ever gets the spot should get it on merit alone.

Your mate is full of shit or Anasta is delusional haha, there's no way that the starting 6 has already been picked without even seeing how Austin and Moltzen have trained

Dont shoot the messenger, Iam just relaying what I was told. We dont know what Anasta has been told or not told but Potter could have told him we are looking at you in 2014 as the no6 to give the team experience and stability, who knows. A lot can happen in a off season. Anyway I was just making the point that I hoped every player every week is picked on form and attitude.
