Brain dead Match day selection

Just can not believe a team has to play Monday night and than back up Saturday night in Townsville.

At this stage of the season when one loss can stuff your year, its a massive ask to have a real short turn around and than be asked to travel a squillion miles.

I know if I went through the draw this has probably happened a lot and the cowboys and the Warriors probably face the same thing a lot, but it dosnt make it right.

Any team playing Monday night should not play again before Sunday. I know nine and fox have a big hand in the decision making process, but it things like this that make our billion dollar game look like a amateur organization.

ur one hundred % right, that could cruel our season. bet the broncos get 7 days rest every week till the finals.

No, dont agree. It happens as you say to the Warriors and NQ all the time. And for that matter, the AFL has teams flying across the country all the time but they manage.

How is it any different to playing a Sunday game then having to back up to play a Friday game?

Mondays often throw players a bit out of whack….its a bit of a mental thing apparently.
Mondays generally regarded as the start of the week....a Mon & a sat is like two games in one week where a Sun & a fri is different weeks even though matematically theres no difference

If anything, the fact it's on a Monday night will help negate the Cowboys' home ground advantage to some extent.

Don't worry guys and gals

Happy's got it covered

Its all planned

Got the worst man flu at the moment , plan on driving to Cowboys training session on Thursday before the game and giving all the boys a big cuddle

If they feel like I do at the moment , we will hammer them by 50

I agree Super there is amateur hour written all over it. But really it pales into insignificance with teams not having their State of Origin players available for 3 matches each year. I know there is a bit of a hoo ha about this, but really it is so devastating that it basically makes the whole competition a farce and I am surprised there is not more noise made about it.

When you throw in teams playing some others twice and other teams only once, the clubs missing so many origin players and some none….teams with many Mon niters and teams like broncos with a steady 7 day gap....its the most uneven, unfair, un-level playing field professional sporting comp on the planet

Given the Broncos are such a protected species, I'm surprised Abbott hasn't sent the dozers into Red Hill.

Having said that, the Tigers would have no gym equipment if it weren't for the Broncos' discards on curb side pickup week.

Lulia's TPA is probably $450 plus fuel for heading north with a ute that week.

Compared to other sports, league has an easy schedule. Shouldn't be an excuse for a professional sports player.

NBA teams travel by Bus for the most part across the country playing 2-3 games a week, 82 games a year..

European Soccer leagues play about 38 games in a season + you have all the extra cup matches like UEFA etc. At times it's 2 games a week ,travelling to other country's for cup clashes too.

Hhmmmmm! Off course the body clashes in NBA games and European Soccer leagues are just as brutal as the hits in the NRL games! Oh! I forgot about the number of times that soccer players, who are fairy tipped by another player fall over and roll about on the ground in agony. Then, after they get the free kick and some minutes of magic water, they can suddenly jump up and run as though NOTHING HAPPENED.
Are your comparisons really legitimate? 😕

I agree with coca cola re the draw, not ideal but thats how it is.

On the other hand, I don't know if there's been a thread about this because I've been away for a while but to quote PYMBLEPETE "it pales into insignificance with teams not having their State of Origin players available for 3 matches each year. I know there is a bit of a hoo ha about this, but really it is so devastating that it basically makes the whole competition a farce and I am surprised there is not more noise made about it." Let's hear that again "makes the whole competition a farce"!!!

How can any team, let alone a developing team like the Tigers, gain any momentum with major disruption to their playing roster in the middle of the season? Who in the NRL makes this decision? Would any other code support such a farcical situation? Can't anyone in high places imagine another way to present those games? Any wonder that AFL has so many followers compared to NRL? Why bother following a team, when its progress is halted and it's fortunes potentially altered by such random factors? Complete BS!

One more time with great exuberance, "makes the whole competition a farce". You found a sore point PYMBLE.

Depending on the turnaround, it can be more than 3 games worth of disruption, especially if the boys have to play the Friday night. Origin needs to be played in a standalone rep round.
