Brent Kite possibly leaving Manly

Kite was cod-ordinary last night-hope we ain't throwing ridiculous money at him ( I am sure that we will be though, true to form).
Would rather we wait until some big-name, YOUNG props come off contract at the end of next season. Signing old blokes at the arse-end of their careers on short-term deals rarely works out.

Well i read somewere there going to pay half his contract and we pay 150 or 125k that would be a good deal if it happens. And hopefully when we re sign Robbie Farah and Keithy we will still have cash to spend next year for a big name.

**We also apparently had it in the bag with Lewis and he ended up with the Sharks**. Not holding my breath but i don't mind the idea of a quality prop coming in to help out Wood's and Source. Hope he can help our 20's get to the next level so they can make the transition smoother.

?

Lewis was never in the bag. Sharks were favourites to sign him all along.

nah, they expressed interest first. tigers caught wind and had negotiations with him. he was going to sign with us, before he changed his mind at the very last minute.

Anyone notice that Kite had his cranky pants on last night , especially with the support staff whenever they coverage looked at the bench he was going off about something

We signed young Buchanan from the Dragons and we have Fotuaika in the 20's who are both promising prospects. The signing of Kite, if true is a good one as he can teach these 2 alot

Yeah, depends on the deal they offer him but as already mentioned Front Row Forwards at the end of their careers rarely turn out to be a good buy.

Petro was 32 when he signed with Penrith and did a fantastic job
Steve Price was 31 when he signed with the warriors did a fantastic job
Ruben Wiki was 32 swhen he signed with the warriors did a fantastic job
Glen Lazarus - 33 when he signed with the storm

Brent Kite will be 31 - seems he his just hitting his prime for an experienced rep prop changing clubs

We need another prop and Kite is a great prop. Some people seem to think players are only good when they play for the Tigers. Adding Kite to our two starting props does a number of things. Firstly, when one of the "Big 2" go off, it means we do not lose anything. It also means if one of the "big two" are out injured, we are not that understrengthed, as we still have Kite and Galloway/Woods in the starting team.

We only need Kite for a year or 2 as it is. He is probably one of the top 10 or so props in the game. He was a flop at origin, but plenty of players have been and there still very good club footballers.

We'll see, last i heard he wants to stay at Manly for another season but i what i find strange, unless i'm missing something,is the Tige's are the only club that seem interested.

Not to mention the plethora of seemingly finished props at the end of their career that have delivered a year or 2 of good stuff for the storm.

I think Brent Kite may be a good short term signing while we usher through Fotuakia, Groat etc

Kite is experience and will add to our current strength of props, yes we need someone else to cover up in case of injury. Like Branasta, I hope he has good attitude

So what's the go with this? Manly are finished now, is he coming here or not?

Wait until we sign a new coach Flip

Would you want to start a new job not knowing who the new boss will be ??

He might be a bastard you hate , and vice versa and then he sticks you somewhere that is designed to force you out

I'm undecided whether he'll be a good pick-up or not. I'm leaning towards yes.
When Galloway is out, there is a real lack of go-forward and I think that needs to be addressed. Losing Cashmere and Moors leaves us one short and I don't think Groat and other young options are the answer. Pettybourne and Thompson are more backrow options. The young Dragons prop may make the step-up but that is a fair bit of pressure. Another experienced head needs to be around the team. Bell I think if is with the club will cement a position at lock where he played very well when Heighington was out injured.

hope we get him time to bring pack the monster forward pac, with plenty of venom like wests and balmain had in the 70's and 80's. if benji stays he will shine under a big pack

the other advantage of us delaying this decision as long as possible is that it puts manly in a difficult position as they don;t know what they can and can;t do in regards to spending cap money. They supposedly need him (or someone) to go to free up cap space for next year.
Anything we can do to make their life difficult is a positive as far as i'm concerned.
