Brent Naden #256

Well that’s good news. So he got 3 weeks for intent + previous convictions , either way he’s out and imo it wasn’ t the smartest play of the day.
And, he took the early plea so our legal people must have said, he didn’t hit him in the head but we’ll plead guilty anyway. Think about it.

Put it on freeze and he didn’t hit him in the head
After KR clarified the tackle was regarded as reckless with no actual contact needed, plus Nadens previous record, it seems that was enough.
Think I owe you some sort of apology coz I assumed there had to be contact. Sorry.

Don't have to hit them in the head if it's a shoulder charge (not using arms to tackle) and it's reckless.

Probably would've only got a couple weeks if he didn't have a prior offence too.
Right, my mistake then, I ( erroneously) felt there must have been some contact. Thanks for clarifying.

Wasn't there also one where he tipped someone over on their head and got sent off in his first few games with us or am I wrong?
He got 4 weeks for that one.

This now makes it a total of 7 weeks suspended plus injury time since he joined us in mid to late May last year.

He played 10 games for us last year and another 6 so far this year.

All good , I thought it was a head attack untill I looked again . Cheers

I think Naden is probably somewhat maxed out as a player.

That said, he's very athletic & can produce some very good performances.

In the AD thread I suggested Doueihi is a long term centre opposite To'a.

I'd add that until Doueihi comes back, it's up to Naden to secure the opposite centre spot. The club is waiting on players to own these positions. Plenty of talented players thereabout. To'a is securing his role. Who wants the other one?

I believe Naden is talented enough to take it, if he wants it.

Earlier in the season, Naden was the first centre picked. I still think he walks into the top 13.

Definitely.
The good thing is the rest of the team has really started playing with discipline, and those stands should filter through. If they don’t, he won’t play.

Tell you now, Tristan Reilly is a good centre too, and his style of play suits the Tigers. There’s a reason why he’s been in the reserves for the last few weeks. Around better players he will be a real threat, they are just taking their time with him.

Sorry mate, I can't take to Reilly. He has talent for sure but most things I have seen of him in the past have been ordinary. Happy to be proven wrong but I don't think he will make the NRL.

Naden hasn't played first grade for some time.
He's not named in either the Tigers or Magpies sides this round
Not on the NRL injury list.

Is there something the club isn't telling us?
