Brett Hodgson - assistant coach 2018 *Official.

Is he a coach?
Theres not a lot he can impart as a player. He cant teach players to play with heart. Skillwise he was only slightly above average.
I dont see the excitement in this position.

Very good news. We should have full-back play and goal kicking covered with Hodgo and Ivan.

I used to love the play "double pineapple" I think it was one of Sheens plays which involved Hodgo.
Someone with a better memory might know more.

Sorry Bathursttiger, I've asked around but can't come up up with anything. I think that Scott Prince used it. Didn't have many plays at front rowers school.

Must be a wind-up.

No wind up. Im just bemused by the circle jerk going on in here for the appointment of him as an assistant coach. He is an assistant at Widnes and they are a poor side, got beaten 40 blot the other day. What exactly is his value to this club from 2018 onwards?

Hmmm…not familiar with the concept of a circle jerk but perhaps you can enlighten us?

He spent a lot of time coached by a bloke who won a few GFs, and despite his faults Sheens…hes quite a cluey rugby league expert
Id say Hodgo wouldve learnt a thing or two

why did the tigers let him go back in 2008? 2009?

Im still scratching my head to this day withe the same question

After all, he was our captain too ..

I was hugely disappointed we didnt keep him or at least try too

Just another dumb decision. By this club

He was done. Remember one of his last games Ingliss just trampling him into the mud to score a couple of times in the same game. He did well to reinvent himself in the UK but his NRL days were well over.

What a 30 year old Hodgson gets trampled by Greg Ingles? like most of Rugby league at the time.

The One thing I liked about Hodgson is he knew how to get the ball away. Someone would go to tackle him, he would work out how to help the ball escape safely into one of his own. Was he a great physical specimen? No. But he did have some skills. He might not be tactical but he was slippery and tricky.

Wayne Bennett never made first grade as a player. Going for size, for form, for athleticism I don't think is needed as a coach. I would like to get Dallas Johnson as a tackling coach, why because everyone in the Storm and QLD pack said he was the toughest tackler… Dallas, the guy who gets knocked out at origin because he is too small... YES. He had the skill to tackle and tackle hard, he would hit people at just the right spot.

Hodgson was about as talented as Justin Taylor, a reserve origin player. He did not play in the halves but is more likeable then Justin. Lets see how he goes.

Quite a few tangents you have gone off on there..focus man.

I tend to agree with Stryker on this. I loved Hodgo, pound for pound one of the best footballers to ever pull on the jumper. But from a coaching perspective, what does he have to offer? I get he's done some coaching in the UK, but he's hardly served a coaching apprenticeship under anyone of note or even at a strong Super League club.

I hope he goes well, but I just don't see any reason to cartwheel down the street over his appointment.

I hope he has lined up a wealth of young English talent to come over and play for us in the future.

Hate to tell you but Bennett played for both Queensland and Australia … and who the hell is Justin Taylor?

If he can bring a 21 year old clone of Gareth Ellis that would be fantastic. I don't think his academy side is faring all that well though.

Hodgo's has the respect of the players, corporations and fans… that alone goes along way in assisting cleary next year in building a culture the club needs to restore it's faith ,players belief .. let alone what else he has to offer, we also may have two young full backs on the up, I can see him helping them with a bag of his old tricks along with his kicking skills.. It's a positive move.... I don't think he rolls in with a big ego or ambitions to undermine cleary another point in hand his 100 percent on the bus bound for the semi's next year. GAME ON MOLE AND BRING IT ON!!!

Hope you are right Fox.
The appointments of Scando and Buckets brings out the sceptic. I remember everyone doing backflips of excitement then as well….

Andre Savelio A young up and coming secondrower just signed with the Broncos. Apparently we were chasing him as well.
The old Brown paper bags works again.
