Brooks is no good

One of the problems with Brooks kicking game is we do not get close enough to roll the ball into the in goal to get a repeat set. At best the 5th tackle is on our attacking 30 most time further out. So he has only one option the bomb.

Brooks has had his chance imo .his kicking game isn't up to first grade standard ,,, that was the difference today , like most weeks :deadhorse:

Thanks, I needed something boring to put me to sleep tonight

Well mtd, watch the replay of the game, some poor passes, the usual defensive errors from our players and giving away silly penalties seem boring enough, but then you watch Brooks and his very ordinary kicking game he has had for 78 NRL games, you know the ones, failing to get the ball in goal, kicking it down the throat of a very talented up and coming fullback and these are in his usual game…you should sleep tight...zzzzzz.......

You'll find plenty of boring negative comments here to make you sleep better then Rip Van Winkle.

I get this strange feeling that he will pop out of this slump and figure it all out. I cannot put my finger on why, but I get a vibe that it will click some time soon.

Probably when Ivan puts him in reggies so he can learn how to be a playmaker,he certainly isn't making a big impact at NRL level,by now he should be controlling the game,he has had long enough…..

It looks to me like he's trying to play to a structure and not what he sees infront of him. So many times today the bomb wasn't on due to rushing defence, but instead of taking another option like grubbing or running it he seems insistent on putting up a bomb he knows is going to be rushed and off the mark.
He needs to start playing what's in front of him again.

He is a number 7 , he should know that . But he just doesn't have it

I actually dont think he is a 7\. He's a devastaing nine potentially.

If you plonked Brooks into the Storm they'd miss the 8.
We can buy as many players as we like for next year it won't matter if Brooks is wearing the 7.

We need a halfback and I won't stop pointing that fact out until we get one. It's our biggest problem and has been since Prince left.

Brooks is not the problem it's the team around him.
Our forward pack doesn't bend the line and get teams on the back foot. His go to men on the edge are Kev, Lawrence, ET, Lovett, Marsters. His hooker Mcilwrick draws no defenders either runs or shovels and his 5/8 is new to the team. He has not lived up to expectations but you have to judge him when Liddle, Packerlino, McQueen, Suli, Milne and Reynolds are in the team.

His defence has come a long way, unfortunately his attack appears to have gone backwards..

Lolohea is playing with more confidence in attack than Brooks

Brooks 15 tackles, 7 missed tackles, yeh his defence is his strong point

That isn't fair to the players around Brooks. Brooks needs to do his job well. As for the players you've mentioned they were all pretty good out there today.

How many times over the years has a boom kid hit the NRL…...not to be heard of again, history has a funny way of repeating itself....hope for Brooks he has a stellar year next year, otherwise he will be on top of the had potential pile but didn't handle it..

Very average 1st half, all the usual stuff, poor 5th tackle options, some shocking passes, than I thought he had a strong second half. Very hard to shine as no7 when every set your 90m from the try line. Badger was poor as always and certainly gifted the Pennys plenty of yards and possession

What a load of garbage. Badger was pro Tigers today. Our shocking hands and poor defence, as always, lost that game.

Shocking hands and poor defence and lack of skill certainly were behind the loss. But for you to suggest Badger was pro Tigers is the single dumbest thing ive ever heard come out of your mouth. I don't know how it looked on TV up the in QLD, but at Pepper Stadium there were two teams playing footy, only one being policed on 10 metres.

He was willing just lacked execution. His 9 didn't make it easy for him and with him being the only kicking option he was up against it. That said, he has to be better.

The next Joey Johns they said
And the stupid club fell for the hype :brick:

As far as Brooks goes, i thought he had turned the corner a bit, but there are still red lights there. Particularly when we had a full set on the Panthers line and Brooks only touched it on the last to give to Teddy to kick. Just not acceptable for a first grade half back. If he takes the bull by the horns and stuffs it, i can live with that, but please, have a go Luke, good players want the ball in their hands.

I've said it before, will say it again.

Brooks is literally Daniel Mortimer. Fast player with good support play and can occasionally make a bust. If he's the 4th best player of your spine, you're doing alright. If he's leading a team around the park, you're in trouble.

Maybe we run Lolohea and Reynolds in the halves next year and Brooks can have a run in reggies. Nofo to fullback.
