I have a mate Who has insiders at St George. He has SMS me to say that Brooks management has approached The Dragons. If they don't resign Benji, they are going to offer Brooks $2M over 3 years.

Lol please

its nice to know that there is a club that is stupider( if there is such a word) than Wests Tigers .

It could be true Why wouldn't Brooks try and get every cent he can from the WT's

It doesn't mean he wants out

You want to get an increased offer in the future you need to have another offer on the table they at least have to match , true ??

here we go again, for the last couple of years and this year coming we have been told that we are over the cap, but things will get better, we need to suck it up for a while. i said this before were will it stop after next year we have nearly all our players of contract and they will want heaps to stay so we get on the merry go round again. for all u people on this forum u said wait lets see what happens give them a go , well we will be back at the start once again and it will be the same pain.

How do we know that these supposed offers are genuine? If WT let our players hold us to ransom the club is back on the back ended contracts road to nowhere.

They will judge what market value is and then make a decision

The players have the right to see what they are worth and the WT's have the right to accept or say good luck

This board has already shown its intentions with Taupau BP and to a lesser extent Austin

Meh if they want more let em walk.
If they're smart they'll realise they can have a career here.
Call their bluff.

I agree. We should play these things out as per how we did with Taupau.

Whilst we are on the rumor mill about these two, brooks had a meeting with the melbourne storm last week before boot camp. What happined in the meeting I don't have a clue.

Yep, both will stay though. As bad as the Tigers management is at the moment, they won't let Brooks and Moses go.

If Brooks and Moses want to play for Tigers purely for money then they can go fly a kite. We need to rid ourselves of this self-entitled attitude that has plagued Tigers for too long.

Brooks has all the skills and also time on his side. It took Ben Hunt a few years and he's now brilliant. Hopefully as fans we allow him time to develop. As ordinary as his tackling stats are at this stage, his try assist stats are just as good.

If you believe that money isnt one of the main things that players these days have in mind( along with playing alongside good players, then you are way off. And they have tolook at it as a big thing. No one knows how long they are in the game for, and it may be the one and only time that they can set themselves up for life
They are professional sportsmen .
The days ( in most cases) of playing for a particular club have almost gone. They don't see loyalt shown much from clubs, and they have to get what they can , while they can

Good point and hope you are right,So many good judges rate him so let's hope they are right. At present Iam not sure but I have also been wrong plenty of times when it comes to judging footballers

How much time though, do you reckon?

If we do a comparison with Farah, Robbie made his debut in 2003, played 4 games, then missed most of 2004 through injury. 2005 was his breakout year and 2006 really the season where he first produced elite-level form.

As soon as I saw Farah take the field in 2003, I knew he had a special quality. Not as fast to mature as Benji, but clearly a standout talent. He was helped by being in a fairly strong side in his formative years.

Brooks debuted 2013 and has now had two uninterrupted seasons. Apart from his debut match, I have honestly yet to see him produce a complete game of footy, where he held the match in his control for 80 minutes. It's a lot to ask for, of course, but if a team is going to be a legitimate chance of taking the title, the halves need to have regular standout games, where they drag the team across the line through their own excellence.

That's not to say he can't become this type of player, and as others have noted, patience can sometimes be the biggest virtue with these young talents.

But of our standout juniors in the past decade, Brooks has not come on as quickly as our best talents have. Certainly he has sufficient ability to be first-choice in 2016, but I expect more of him next year, more improvement.

Do you think Brooks has had a solid/steady forward pack?

Another caveat to consider is the state of the club as well. The coach and supporting staff would have enormous influence on a young player. I don't know if Brooks has had the same stability that was afforded to Benji and Farah,

I could be totally wrong and Brooks may be a dud but perhaps it all isn't a level playing field.

There is a point to what you are saying, but you can only blame the pack for so long?

There is never a level playing field in rugby league, and sometimes the player just has to do the levelling themselves, because nothing is presented on a platter.

Sometimes I think that Luke Brooks is very similar to Phil Blake.
Massive talent, but for some reason not able to achieve full potential at the moment.

Could the weight of expectation be a hinderance :bulb: ?

He has started very early, much earlier than most key position players and has shown fairly regular dashes of brilliance.

When you bring a lot of youngsters through together it is impossible to hide there weaknesses, this has been the case with all these kids developing together.

Can you think of any half that has been very strong as a 20 year old? Thurston was still finding his way at Brooks age, DCE had yet to debut and Ben Hunt was playing 20 minutes of hooker.

Halves take time.

We've all seen plenty of duds/ineffective halves
Most get 3-4 games in grade and disappear again. Guys like Luke Kelly, Kris Keating and Joe Williams got longer but never took the next step. Think about the half for the Warriors when we played them last year. He's a dud.

Brooks is not them. He'll come good.
