I’m far from a Brooks basher, but that is a great question. Would we look to sign him if he was at another club.

Other Clubs would sign him in an instant if on the market. Why? He is a fine player. Cleary got the best out of him so we need to go back and find out what he did that Maguire isn't.

Just plain horrible. The purest of plodders. Will never stand up when the chips are down. Average in every facet of his game. What about his kicks for touch? I would make further yards.
What I would give for him to get a big money offer from England and ask for a release.

I’m with you on Brooks, I think he should probably start looking at a career change. That said, we aren’t the only team with a dud or bog average halfback on good coin - how would the Titans be feeling having to pay Ash Taylor big money for his insipid performances or the Dragons with Ben Hunt? He’s now playing hooker! Or the Broncos’ highly overrated Anthony Milford, who plays about one good game every 2 seasons. Brooks may we’ll be a dud half, but he is far from the only one in the NRL.

Actually, Brooks for Staggs...or...pretty sure there was a story the other day about Staggs wanting out...maybe we just go after him hard. He is a kicker too. Use Brooks as a bit of leverage to milk em for everything they've got, like say, a full-back? The Samoan brotherhood would make him at home and keep him out of trouble.
Boncos are desperate for a half and might just leap in like they did with Croft. They'd look like twins in Boncos kit, even play the same.
