Brooks

There will be a thread on Brooks after nearly every game. It’s inevitable, halfback is The most crucial position in the Team and he is bottom few in the league.
Whether we won or not is regardless, it’s his performance that we are talking about, and it is not up to par.
IMHO if Brooks makes it past round 6/7 might as well write off another season.

I didn't see ISP,but am disappointed to hear both McQueen and Milne had little impact….I thought Milne was outstanding in RLWC,and was surprised Kev(who has had the best part of a decade to show hes up to NRL standard and invariably fallen short)got the nod.He still made too many errors for mine.
Lawrence(who has also had a large chunk of time to prove himself as a backrower)simply isn't big enough to impact in either attack or defence, great guy that he may be..its time t move on.There are others with same work rate and more impact

So Lawrence hasn’t proven himself - the guy who was our captain yesterday? Sorry, I must be watching another game. He is always solid and works tirelessly. One of the first picked IMHO.

Agreed.

Some people are watching a different game.

Lawrence did his job.

Brooks & Marshall looked ok. Once everything settles down & Liddle returns, they could be a real ace in our team.

I think our halves were better than Easts!

I agree with Tiger Steve about Lawrence, every week he puts in & seldom has a bad game, plus he will make a very good captain.

Brooks’ tackling was excellent. I can’t remember him making so many effective tackles. If he’s to stay in firsts that needs to continue.

Agreed. Also Liddle is a huge positive for our team. Our forwards also got over the top of the Roosters.

Lawrence was good on Saturday. Okay he might not rip the line open in attack but he will make 99% of the tackles he has to make. On the other hand a bloke like Sue might be able to charge through a defensive line but he can miss some real important tackles. At present our defence is no1 priority

I'm content with Rowdy doing those things if we can open up the other edge. I feel this is where Aloiai can be our best forward and win alot of matches if given the opportunity to own that Right Edge.

Luke Brooks defence with Rowdy along side was good…Just thought I'd mention Luke as this thread is apparently about him...

Previous coaches have tried to hide Brooks in defence out a bit wider and thats where he struggled, as he had to make to decisions. Defending closer in, he basically just has to nail the bloke who is running at him and IMO he has always been able to do that

Brooks defended really well.

That Roosters try Kev should have trusted Brooks to make the tackle, he did get bumped off but the pass was already gone and left MWZ with no chance.

Defensively, good. Attack was poor. Kicking was poor for the most part. Not going to get dropped anytime soon but he definitely took a step back with Benji out there and calling all the shots. Hope he doesn't stay in his shell.

In a way we didn't have a halfback out there against the chooks. Marshall and Brooks ideally are running 5/8ths. People have said it was Benji that steered us around, I think it was just his game management that come to the front. And to think Reynolds is a running 5/8th aswell. We are in need of a HALFBACK!!
I don't know whether Gamble is one either maybe our only halfback we have is Drinkwater.

Brooks has 4 to 8 weeks(the duration of Reynolds hamstring recovery)to show the world why a Benji/Reynolds combo in the halves wld be preferable.
On the subject of opportunities,Id sub McQueen for Lawrence tomorrow, and milne for Kev…both incumbents the weakest links yesterday, and two meritorious replacements.
Have no room for Nofa at this stage, altho Tui on thin ice if he didn't kick that winning conversion

How long is Josh Aloiai out for?

Did you watch the ISP yesterday? McQueen was virtually invisible except for a few solid tackles. We need someone who can bend the line and neither Lawrence or McQueen can do that. If you want to bend the line think Sue, Felise or one or two other forwards who impressed Your other suggestion, Milne, also had a very quiet game, although I concede he probably would be better than Kev.
