Can't really complain (R11 vs Eels)

I feel the boys played hard for the full 80 tonight. We were always going to be up against it with our injuries which only got worse as the game progressed. Blore definately looked liked he belonged could see him getting more games from the bench. Pretty sure I heard Madge say in the presser that he is expecting like 6 guys back this week

Disappointing to lose but there are many promising signs. Our forward pack is becoming very formidable. Still too many errors. Doueihi unconvincing. Benji and Brooks starting halves next week for sure.

Reynolds might come in and Brooks might stay on the bench. Can’t persist with Walters. He doesn’t have it.

I need to watch the game again but Walters seemed nonexistent tonight.

I never really saw him in the game tonight, unsure if they were targeting him however never saw him miss any tackles.
If i needed to sound someone out that has been inconsistent for weeks was Mybe dropped the 1st ball going back to fullback, was woeful again.

Well liked Madge's last minute changes and did what most forum members were saying, Blore was good and got more game time.
Injuries aside during the game there still are a few players not performing, unsure what value Mybe is and Brooks did really not much when injected.
Suppose we have to play what we have, forwards stood up, Packer was good again that matterson hit worth the price of omission.

We play like that every week in defence, we’ll make finals.

Difficult to do much in attack with Mbye at fullback and whoever was playing left centre.

I actually thought Mbye look a lot more dangerous in attack from fullback than Doueihi.

You are kidding he dropped the 1st Bomb out up and put us under pressure again, AD did not have the best night however he did throw a good pass that lead to a try.
Mybe i am sorry he is not work the $950k we pay for him.

Really proud to be a tiger tonight despite losing. We are a team that need some luck , and our best team on the field. Add twal, musgrove, mikael and BJ to that team tonight and I reckon we beat them. To lose the second half 8-6 with the amount of ball and field position the eels had is a testament to what Madge is doing. We’ve got some great young players coming through. How good was Blore!!!! What a debut. Sign him up quick, no wonder the panthers were so upset to lose him. AD had a shocker , but he’s been one of our best this year, and I’m sure he will come back better.

Tonight's game reminded me of the Panthers game.
If you deconstruct the game you'll find all these little faults in our game but in saying that I also think we're seeing a more concerted effort from the boys. They gave everything in effort to try and reverse the damage.

We have an inexperienced pack and lack strike but we were highly competitive, and then to think we were still missing a number of players tonight... our future's starting to look very promising indeed.

I don't like ref blaming but I'm soooo over the officiating. Seems like we never have a fair crack.

I think Benji and Doueihi in the halves we are also 2 class players short of being a quality side

I think we have the players for a decent quality side, the issue is having them available. No doubt a couple of upgrades would also help.

Sorry maybe I should have said soo standard players

effort was excellent but ultimately they just had too much quality. throw in the referee giving us zero for the first 65 minutes as Happy said and a heap of injuries and it wasn't looking good.

we're not far away but unfortunately games like this are going to hurt us at the end of the year and while I'm very proud of the boys, we were in control midway through the first half and we let them back in. the good teams don't allow that to happen.

well done to Blore on his debut and thank you to Russ for making the Ryan Matterson saga completely worth every second. that is a memory I will cherish for a very long time.

Good post @Lauren we are just behind the top sides, they have an extra gear and a level of composure that we still don't have. We are fighting hard to stay on those games but we just don't have the players to turn the momentum back when the other side gets on top. In previous years the Eels score 40-50 points tonight.

With the side we fielded tonight that result was kinda acceptable and (by me anyway) expected.
Must say we are progressing nicely when we are sticking within striking distance of top sides when most things are rolling against us.
I think we have the bones of a good side with good fighting attitude .... good for the future.

Speaking of Packer knocking out Matterson, Russ was giving it to him before he even hit the ground. I don't think anyone can say that there isn't some ill feeling between Matterson and at least some of our players.

Packer worked incredibly hard for months with a potential medical retirement over his head to get himself back on the field to play for Wests Tigers and has shown that in the last two weeks.
Ryan Matterson threw a tantrum because a training session went 11 minutes overtime and then told the coach they'd never win a grand final.

if it didn't mean something to Russ to get back on that field and to give it to Matto like that you'd be pretty concerned.

In your opinion Cochise if we don’t play Doueihi in the halves or at fullback where

Honestly I don't know, I think his best position is probably a hard running centre, but again I think he may have issues defensively there. He is a very safe fullback, with a little more speed he could be really good there, but he doesn't have a little more speed.

I think he has pace but he is carrying an injury in my opinion....we dont know and dont know any better because he gets selected every week...we have had plenty players injured over the years and we didnt know any better...

That is true, though his highlights from Souths didn't show much pace either. I really hope you are right as if he is a bit quicker, I do think he can make a decent fullback.

It was a foreign feeling not to see a blowout scoreline with such an understrength team. We were already at half strength and then to have more players taken out in the game, I was honestly preparing for the worst.
But now it's all over I can't help but feel a little like I did after the Raiders and Panthers games - we were oh so close.

I have a very similar feeling, walked away feeling proud of the effort but feeling they are just better teams than us. We fight to stay in the game but to beat one of these teams we are going to need a little bit of luck to go our way.

I think with either of Garner, Reynolds and Leilua alone we would've got a different result.
Garner was great last week and though he's no good at steering the team either, Grub's energy has often helped lift the boys. But this game would've been so good for Joey Leilua.
His carries were strong in his last game and I feel he would've been fantastic for us tonight.

Fingers crossed our injury run is coming to an end.

I 100% agree with Garner and BJ, not convinced on Reynolds. I much prefer the someone like Blore bringing energy to the side, I need more from a 5/8th then just energy.
