CEO - Shane Richardson

Just to remind everyone, Richo has not yet been here 18 months.

This time last year, he was a few months into being interim CEO.

Anybody thinking this rebuild, which seems on the surface to be one of, if not the hardest jobs in the NRL era, will take less than 3/4 years, needs to recalibrate their expectations.

Yeah you are spot on… I guess the bad news headlines and the lack of promised signing news and the last two poor results gets on you some days
I’m content that Richo is pulling the strings and think the fan base has a role to play in the revival. He told a story about a small group of loyal die hards at Souths, they didn’t revolt when Souths were at their lowest point and he made sure they were there when they reached the top. While we we are improving (which we are) I am fully supportive of the club.

If our elite guys like Luai, Api & co abandon the cause, then I’ll be concerned.

and who knows how Latu turns out once he stays on the paddock

The way I see it Latu needs to play 10 games at a pretty high level this year to be plan A for 2026.
If he is the real deal and his problem is a chronic hammie I’d write off this year and send him to the best hammie doctor in the U.S. Bring him back next year ready and rearing to go. Having said that I’m not sure he is the real deal but plenty on here think he is. We’ll just have to get by this year without him and the little creep and do the best we can.

That would make it two years on pretty good coin without any material contribution. He also returned from the off season out of shape. If it comes to that we need to sign someone ahead of him and then it’s on him to play his way back into calculations.

He has said on a few occasions that this is not the hardest. He seems extremely confident that your timeline is overs.
He may have underestimated how deep the losing cultures of Western Suburbs and Balmain run.
I suspect 3 to 4 years is correct. We need to bring another half a dozen first grade calibre players in so that some of the guys who are currently in our 17 can take the rightful places as depth players and kings of KOE.

Yeh, fair call. He certainly hadn’t delivered much so far. I saw him in KOE at Lidcombe early this year and thought he was very average.

I think he can accelerate that a little with a couple of astute forward signings. Just can’t see where they come from right now but May fell out of the sky on us.

With our luck he would be arrested in the USA and sent to El Salvador just like everybody else.

Yeah we got very lucky there. The good thing is we have money and spots. When something happens, we can pounce faster than most.

Jebus we turn on peeps quick.

Richo so far has done a tonne more right then wrong. We have been whinging about our playing groups lack of quality for years. So far he is sweeping the broom through. As much as it hurts it takes a year or two to get that right.
He has cut excess around the place, staff waste etc.
He has been pretty forthright with his communication.
He seems to be keeping the board in check.
People don't know everything that is happening in side the inner circle.

I think he is doing great personally.

Also I think benji is doing great. The team play for him which is huge. They backed him ferverously when he was slandered.
Now it's on him and richo to get the players he needs and imo an x's and o's coach. Wish we had kept Gardiner but things happen.

We are heading in the right direction i think and o literally can't remember the last time I felt that.
I felt similarly until the day that Ivan Cleary's commitment statement surfaced in 2018.

Then the whole place slowly imploded under Maguire and onto 3 spoons.

My view is that whole place imploded under Lee and the old board. The place was a circus. Tim rejecting 16 applications and appointing himself as coach was the ultimate in arrogance and nepotism. It doesnt get any more contrived and bogus than that.

Im not calling for Richos head, not at all, but realistically, hes not without sin either.

The record score the storm put on us showed Benji had little to no impact. It was truly historic in both its ineptitude and hopelessness.

So i dont think its unreasonable or unjustifed to question whether Benji is the right person to coach us moving forward.

Through 11 games our performance against Melbourne was an outlier.

There simply arent any other coaches in our game who have been flogged by that kind of margin.

Its not just the score.

Somehow Benji got them to play a lot worse than they had been.

They might have performed better if he hadnt coached them at all that week. We didnt do much right.

It shows that hes not only vulnerable but unreliable.

We should turn our minds to managing his exit with the grace and dignity we deserve.

Whenever that is.

Just about every team cops a hiding, Melbourne conceded 40 to the Dolphins a few weeks ago. It’s about how they respond over the back half of the season that will tell us more about Benj.
