Ch 9 hammers NRL

If NRL is on while NSW folk are being fined for eating a kebab by themself I won't be able to by it tbh. I won't even watch it. Too much entitlement that they should play by other rules. I dont expect anyone else to have my opinion and I'm happy for others to enjoy the sport. That's just part of my view 🙂

I will definitely be watching if it is back, if it is back the government has obviously decided that it poses minimal risk!

And i’d say no poster has put any effort into this so far...
How about the increased disconnect with broadcasters

Too much typing for 1 person..

it's like what did the Romans do for us..in reverse..

What aquaducts ??

Swap Romans with Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and that would be a good laugh as well

I've got some icing for the cake when it's done

Holding off on paying into the players superannuation fund for a few years...

Now there is a bill worth millions with no money to pay

Gross Mismanagement

The longer this saga goes on, the more likely it will become clear that V'Landys is nothing more than an opportunist whose leadership style of "have a win at any cost" is decidely dangerous in times such as these.

He is the Donald Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon of Australian sports leaders; a man of limited intellience, a huge ego and self-belief who is emboldened by success, as measured by his own metrics.

Well he's kept racing going.

On his own he hasn't. It's not just NSW that is continuing to race at the moment. What about the other leaders in other states?

But, in NSW the feature races on tomorrow have all had to take up to a 50% cut in prizemoney, under V'Landys' leadership. So when he (allegedly) says he will come to an agreement with Nine, I suspect it will be in Nine's benefit, not the NRL's.

In fact, I think Hugh Marks knows V'Landys is a goose who will settle for some sort of "victory" that will stroke his ego and self-belief. The reality, though, will be completely different.

As you may have guessed, I don't rate him at all as a leader. In fact, I think Greenburg has better leadership qualities than V'Landys.

Mate, your last sentence is a HUUUUUGE statement. Greenberg has been decimating and making NRL a laughing stock for years, doesn't learn from his mistakes because he is too arrogant to believe he doesn't know best. He is singlehandedly the worst thing to happen to the NRL since it's inception.
If he was still making the decisions the game probably would of folded in the space of a few weeks.

Oh ok. I'm happy to be convinced otherwise. List all the errors and instances of mismanagement that can be directly attributed to him please.

This might take a while

Giving Inglis a character reference for his drink driving/speeding offences.
Giving Cameron Smith's wife a diamond ring.......for what exactly? Not to mention Cammy's testimonial (salary-cap exempt) 3 years (or maybe more) before he actually racks off from the game.
Sam Burgess internet sexting thing, no punishment. Yet Adam Elliott from Bulldogs gets harshly punished for exactly the same act, one over the internet, one not.
John Sutton and Luke Burgess arrested in USA at the end of 2014, Souths kept it quiet, no punishment.
The whole Matt Lodge balls-up, he should never have been allowed back into the NRL, he served zero punishment.
David Fifita: all good apparently apart from being detained overseas.

He has overseen an absolute dogs-breakfast, there is probably another dozen or so instances that don't immediately spring to mind.
How he was promoted to the NRL's top job after his mismanagement of the Bulldogs whilst he was in charge (Ben Barba bashing his partner, complete with photographic evidence of injuries), (him being aware of Ryan Tandy's gambling addiction and therefore approving of advance payment of Tandy's contract to settle SP bookie gambling debts).
He is as shonky as administrators get. Cannot wait to see the back of the maggot.

Not doing the right thing by Ben Barba years ago when he had the chance to potentially Stop future violence

Yep, Toddy's a sweep-it-under-the-rug kinda guy. Glad he is being exposed for the vermin he is.

I think you have been given a litany of them. Do you need any more?

This is a ludicrous take . It’s not on for 7 weeks . We were all gonna die just 7 days ago . The infection rate then was 22% and is now just above 1%. If the NRL goes into quarantine then isolated as a game , what is the difference between that , and isolating at home with your family ?
People being panic merchants fail to see how much sport is ingrained in the fabric of society .
The effect to the mental state of the population can’t be overstated .
It your right some bloke hetting pinned for eating a kebab in the worst affected area TODAY, is exactly the same as a whole company isolating ina regional location , then picking up their business , whilst broadcasting that ... in 7 weeks time .

Also who cares what channel 9 think. They are only manipulating people through their affiliates like 2gb and SMH to bring trial the NRL in the court of public opinions. To get thier CEO out from getting fired by saving 130 mil.
The NRL should be investing in thier digital platform or Foxtel Kayo , and on selling 2-3 games a week to channel 10 , or 7.
The years worth of horrendous content like MAFS and whatever reality TV car crash their invested in today , has lead to a huge cord cutting avalanche, which they will never recover from . Nobody wants to watch ads . They’d rather pay a subscription of 24.95 a month , and get non biased relevant commentary as well .
This is the future . It’s been here for a while.
My father in law would have rather pay Foxtel 120 a month , until my brother in law bought him a new TV, with a hub . Then he got Netflix , and his wife was on Facebook and saw an ad for Kayo . 24.95 a month for on demand sport ? And Netflix is 11.95 a month .... And I can watch it anywhere ? On any device ? Seriously...l

Just another take on all this. How big a deal is lying to the stock exchange is aussie? In most countries it is a big deal. Nine told the SX something to steady there price (a saving of $130m because the season won't go ahead), which wasn't true. After all, the NRL may start again this season. Nine should be in trouble for that as it wasn't fact. They lied to the market, suppling false info.
They need the season to be cancelled

in addition to the broadcast deal, the game have had a lot of fines flood in over the last few years. Didn't we give them almost 400k for farah?

Would be interesting if they put a spotlight on the magnitude and timing of these fines. Maybe they were partially covering their own mismanagement.

I doubt it!
