Chris Lawrence Re-signs...

It's decisions like these that mean we are not going to make the 8, let alone win a premiership in the short to medium term. It's a bonehead decision.

I reckon a two year deal would have been fair. Has been much better this season and has found his niche in the second row now. Needs a bit more size now IMO but very happy to have him back on a new hopefully revised deal. great servant for the club and really positive image for the club. Every club a bloke like him.

3 years a bit much imo

I initially felt this way at 1st but didn't want to upset the moment, think 2 years would of been ideal but who knows maybe his terms of restructuring the deal meant over a longer period.

to get three years it would have had to work in the Tigers Favour - so It's great news in my opinion.

He won't be on Mega coin, and we'll be able to build a team with him there at the helm.

I believe the 3 year deal was used to reduce the money he was taking in the cap next year.

He has played around 20 games in the back row. He will only get better.

His major strength is his leadership and professionalism off the field. Someone needs to set the standard.

Happy for him and the club.

He had the option in his favour to play next season for a lot of cash. If we were going to compensate him for rejecting that we'd need to spread the money across a number of years. Plus he gets the job security.

It's more of a 2 year extension if you consider he was under contract next year.

And yeah I'm happy for him to hang around for a few years. Solid club man and good role model for the boys. Not an on-field captain but a handy and loyal player. Been fairly good, still needs to work on his defence though.

Reworked deal, three years would have had to have been done to make it work out for both parties.

Hope injuries are kind to him, he's been a revelation in the second row. A great bloke to boot as well and one to lead the team post Farah.

This deal will take him through to retirement. Not a bad move by the club as we have some fine backrowers coming through NYC at the moment who will hopefully be making their mark in a couple of years time.

Chris is the sort of bloke that in two years time you tapped him on the shoulder and said your time is up,we have a few kids your holding back, he would probably walk without any drama, he strikes me as a bloke that the club comes first

3 years sounds a bit long but with his deal being re done it may be average coin for 3 years , frees up some cash and we know we have a very solid club man in Chris , I'm happy as its better than some of our past deals , and also congrats to Chris

Doesn't fill me with excitement for the future. Good to have a great club man but most times good club men hold other better performers out of the team. It's a signing where we know what we're going to get. At least he likes being here.

Everyone agrees Lawrence is a good bloke.

However 3 years seems 1 or 2 too many to me. I would have gone for a 2 year deal max, or maybe even rolling 1 year deals based on performance. Its easy to go back into the comfort zone with a 3 year deal especially for a player whos body has taken plenty of hits.

We gave him one 5 year deal and that worked out terrible. I know he is not as old as you would think given he started at 17.

However i am not really for giving "veteran" players 3 year deals.

For me it all depends on the money.

If we are paying value then it's fine, and he's a great VC and clubman. It would be cool for both parties if he saw out his days with us.

I know that's sentimental and I'm rarely like that anymore, but his form this year has been very good and turned me around.

Why would Lawrence agree to a one year deal for lesser money? He already has a contract for next year on massive coin. The three year deal enables the club to spread that. He has done the club a massive favour.
