Take it for what its worth but a person close to the titans just told me that we are offering around a mil a season for McQueen. Surely we cant be that stupid.

Note it is secondhand knowledge

You only need to apply a bit of common sense to realise that is absolute garbage.

I dont disagree and dont know how truely reliable the source is just passing on info

More like a mil over 2 or 3 seasons

A million over three seasons is probably the going rate. I'd have him for two years, 300-350 mil per season. He's not a game breaker but he's a solid, hard working first grader who will make the strong hit ups and defend solidly. He will lift the overall quality of our pack and our team work ethic but if we are looking for a tackle busting edge runner we will we will have to develop one from within.

I use to think he was alright but gee he has been ordinary of late. Not sure that he has got it in him to reignite his career and don't think that is the sort of player that we should be investing in.

Chris McQueen says he wants to stay with Gold Coast despite hefty bid from Wests Tigers
TRAVIS MEYN, The Courier-Mail
February 27, 2017 7:59pm

CHRIS McQueen has pledged his allegiance to the Titans, declaring he wants to stay on the Gold Coast amid a $1.2 million poaching raid from Wests Tigers.

The Tigers are expected to today make a formal three-year offer to lure McQueen from the Gold Coast.

McQueen met with Tigers coach Jason Taylor last week after the Titans tabled a one-year extension, with option for a further season.

McQueen could secure more money by heading south, but the 29-year-old recently bought a house on the Gold Coast and is reluctant to move.

He resurrected his career at the Titans last season, playing all 25 games as the Gold Coast made a drought-breaking finals appearance.

“I’ve made it clear I want to stay here,” McQueen said.

“I’ve had my manager talk to the Titans and tell them I want to stay here.

“As long as the Titans are happy to keep me and we can come to an agreement this is where I want to be.

“I just need to go out and play good footy and prove why they should keep me.”

McQueen, who has played six Origins for Queensland, will shift to the left edge this season to accommodate the arrival of Storm signing Kevin Proctor, a specialist right-side player.

It is not an unfamiliar position for McQueen, who has proven his versatility by playing anywhere from wing to lock.

“I’ve been injury free and had a good pre-season,” he said.

McQueen is set to move to the right edge.
“I’ve played more left than I have right in my career. I’ll fit back in on the left.

“There was a bit of a void there in that lock position too. If at some point throughout the year I need to play there then I’m comfortable with that.”

I hope we keep our money now…I'm actually flabbergasted that a player would shop himself around to get a better deal at his existing Club...What has the RL World come to...

That's the end of that chapter. Nice to know we have some money to throw around for someone else though.

i guess that would be similar money to Rowdy and as much as i like Chris i would rather McQueen in the pack somewhere.

Tigers should come out in the press tomorrow and say that they made noise to sign Chris McQueen just to force Titans to spend more money on him, and their real target is Ryan James.

I doubt Marsters will get there. Every year i hope that Sue takes his game to another level, but it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully this is the year.

IF Sue can handle the defensive side of being a back rower and get to 80 minutes a game pretty quickly he will be good

Big IF though

Bit too late for that. He re-signed before Christmas.

We need people who can go forward. Looking from the Media Chris doesn't want to leave the Titans. Before I heard this I wanted him. Now I think were better off leaving him to stay with the club he is happy in. We need a few more experienced forwards who still have some workrate in them. Woods can't do all the heavy lifting and we see it every game, Tigers are not getting the impact needed to set up the key plays.

Fast footy can't keep saving us. We need grunts. McQueen was a grunt, if he doesn't want the Black and Orange then lets get another grunt who does.
