Club Statement - Tedesco and Woods

I think they could just confirm that they will not be accepting the WT offer without having to declare where they will be playing.

In Woods' case, if that was the outcome, he should immediately resign or be replaced as captain of the NRL team.

Tigers aren't in a bidding war with anyone for Tedesco. No other team is offering what the tigers offered on a restructured deal 3 weeks ago. Even with roosters and TPA won't be what the tigers offered. Get that much through your heads

I get it but he still sounds like he is gone. That is why Happy is all over this forum trying to blame the club. Tedesco wants it to be about the club being bad.

It's just spoilt brats having tantrums.

It sucks we ended up in a bidding war with the Roosters for teddy, no chance we could offer the tpa's the roosters could.

The saddest part is that all the backers of the chooks, even together can't match the wealth of a single man reputed to be WT backer and our number one ticket holder, yet what does he provide? Sweet chose your own words comparatively for mine.

Thats assumimg its about money with Teddy. The offer from us was very generous. He has said all along he wants stability and to play finals footy - l believe him.

Yeah, I was making a general statement alluding to him actually doing bugger all or nothing for the club, yet some, mainly my fellow former Balmain supporters see him as our saviour.

I would be utterly shocked if he has not had at least a two-fold greater return on his investment in league as it is about the only positive promotion Meriton gets.

Is there any chance the COP could be waived and that they would announce that at least one is staying tomorrow?

"The rule prohibiting the announcement of any signing until the cooling off period has expired only applies to the team signing a new player," an NRL spokesperson said. "

Good move by the club and Cleary to show they won't be pushed around.

If Teddy really thinks he has a better chance at winning a premiership elsewhere then that is fine by me - he's put in the last 3 years and I think he's paid back the support the club gave him early in his career.

That said while loosing Woods and Teddy would be a loss, I hope it happens. It makes no sense to have $2m tied up in these fellows when we would only have cap headroom next year of $6.84m to spend across 28 other blokes.

This club has had too much money concentrated in too few players for most of its history which means we are forced to assemble potentials and plodders around the stars. Time we were able to put 17 decent quality blokes out every week, with another half dozen pushing for selection.

Looks like the media are already running with them gone.

This is 100% correct!

I think the club is sick of this dragging along and the longer it goes on the longer it gives the rorters and the dogs time to move players on, get TPA'S. I dont think they have signed with anyone yet for th3 club to come out and do this. I love the fact that if they don't sign it dimishes their value as our offers which are meant to be the highest are no longer their for isaac to use.

Of course they have signed. Our club has made it obvious with such a short deadline. If somehow they weren't signed and signed with us tomorrow, it would get dragged out for another 2 weeks due to the COP. They've told us to expect an announcement tomorrow. With such a short timeframe, that cannot be a good thing.

Im not sure what Woods' situation is but I've heard that he's gone. I can 99.99% accuracy tell you that the Roosters haven't formally offered Teddy anything yet. My mate has a great relationship with Roosters management and they are in the middle of putting something together now. Isaac Moses has been stalling to give Roosters time to table an offer. As of yesterday the was no offer from the Roosters. The Roosters were in the process of offloading SKD, Gurrea and Evans to make room for Teddy. They got rid of Evans but not the other 2 yet. This latest development will have the Roosters running but I think Teddy will have no choice but to sign with us because there is no other offers for him. Just wait for the "I love this club" line when he re-signs.

I will call shenanigans on that one. WHy would the players need to offload players off contract before they could table an offer. Either your mate is having a lend of you, or you are quite gullible

It is an interesting one isn't it. I mean if they are leaving then the club announces that tommorrow.

However if they are staying then in fact they can't announce that tommorrow without waiving the cooling off period which if they don't then the players give themselves 10 more days effectively to make a decision and the ultimatum is buggered for at least 2 more weeks and we have 2 more weeks of all of this.

So what do they do tommorrow if both are staying - just say nothing ?

I guess no news is good news.

For the first time since this saga began this forum may actually be hoping for no updates on tedesco

Makes no sense. If it was a given they were leaving, why not announce that they have withdrawed the contract offers today?

Well Cleary definitely stated that the club had not received an answer, let alone an indication that either player is leaving. You can only take him at his word and assume the Tigers are sick of waiting around as much as we are and have drawn a line in the sand.

Club trying to save face and show they played hard ball when in reality the players and their manager have just walked all over the club?

Bad look for the NRL when they have a salary cap in place to keep a level playing field and in the last week three of the strongest / wealthiest clubs in the game have literally shared the four best available players on the market in Bird, Tedesco, Foran, and Woods.
In doing so they have disenchanted a large portion of their supporter base.
Why dont the media write a truthful story about that instead joking sbout the about the "salary cap sombrero"
There is nothing about the events of the past week that is useful in growing the game its just made the divide more obvious.

How big is the dogs cap Woods and Foran , they will need to dump 4 out of there top grade

Exactly….give it time, this is just the start of the merry go round. We now have a heap of cap space, there will be options.
