Completely unacceptable: ramifications

The sad thing for me is that we've been this way for most of the season and the whole lack of accountability and leadership once again took centre stage.
But this time everything came undone and unravelled. All our worst nightmares came true tonight because the things that needed to be addressed 14 or 5 rounds ago, continue not to be.
No offence but I think it's as simple as being that we were found out for how unprofessional we really are as a team. The poor standards, structures and effort were exposed big time, by a team who are the best at doing so.
Who honestly doesn't know where our (WTs) weaknesses lie?
Any good attacking team will be lapping it up against us.

I'll tell you one thing though, I still don't know who our best team is and what our strengths are. Most teams are going from strength to strength but we show little progression as a team.

Good post Lauren. If you were to put that down to one person who would it be?

Madge is delusional...presser was basically "Melb showed us the standard we want...momentum in the modern game...we know what we want to be....need to find our shoulders on D"....

In that environment he’s damned if he says that and he’s damned if he says this……more interested in what is said behind the scenes.

Madge needs to walk on Monday morning. That's the beginning. I don't know how this ends but this is how it starts

It has to start with basic defensive structures.

Under Madge we now have conceded almost 100 more than the all time bad Dogs...second worst record in the comp defensively...teams know all our weaknesses...

Yet he has never adjusted to all the edge holes...same players, same structures, week after week...

Funny he talked that last year and every game this year and we have gone backwards not improved.

This was the loss we needed after Parra game.

I liked the start ‘we learned a lot tonight’

😂😂😂

We need at least 2 centres.
First grade ready.

Need to get recruitment going now for next year.

This year is a write off.
Blood some cup kings like Fitzbala, Pauga, Kelma and Tuki.

Go and watch the try early in the first half, Luciano Leilua moves up too quick and there is a moment where he could have propped off his right foot and hit the Storm forward ball and all and saved a try but instead of going into contact he chooses to avoid it and let’s in a soft try. He chose to let in a try. He then let in several others before being hooked. If he gets picked for Wests Tigers again the club is a farce. Forget bashing Madge we have guys who aren’t even trying.

Tuilagi starts & Luciano to the bench

I’ve never been more convinced Luciano isn’t a starter

He got hooked.

That edge was embarrassing.

Luciano, Roberts, Nofo.

He brought Blore on to try and clean up some defence... then he went down.

We all knew that edge was going to fail.
Everyone but Madge.

Pretty embarrassing left edge combo.

3 worst defensive players in the team paired together?
I’m a sucker for thinking we would have a crack tonight

Sucks about Blore, he looked like one of three having a dig tonight. Hope it wasn’t bad

Yes, at this point it is the same lines dragged out each week.

The media are absolutely hopeless also..."what can you say after that Madge"...type questions.

Nothing like "coach, you conceded 40 and your pack and edges were slaughtered last week...why were there no changes and no adjustments?".

Compare the media here to the US media and it is ridiculous how little analysis of tactics is actually asked in pressers.

Yeah, that was literally comical...."we learnt what standards we need to reach"...

Just incredible...

Hopefully Gildart and AD can deliver, our centre's barely turned up tonight, might have been better off if they didn't

To think, a worse player roster than this rabble actually beat The Storm twice a few years ago under Cleary!

Great post Lauren.

Bellamy ran every play at our edge D first ten mins...everyone knew it.

Not a single adjustment. Not a single one all season.

Douihei isn't a centre.
He doesn't wanna play centre.

He's the cream of the crop.

I'd give him the 6 and the captaincy and if Brooks can't adapt, Hastings to 7 and Brooks can find the door.

Whoever is responsible for our passive, back-pedalling defensive structure needs to be sacked immediately for a start.

On the money and take Madge as well for letting it happen every week

Matthew Head, Ciraldo, Willie Peters, Justin Morgan, Dean Young, Steve Georgallis

so who would we realistically land? who in their right mind want to come here?

Take a breath you blokes. You think it was our structures that caused that? A bumbling, fumbling team, that didn't show up, hit a Melbourne team who showed up, landed every Harlem globetrotters play and bent us over inside 20 minutes. The boys were gassed and gone from there. They are just THAT much better.

Madge doesn't coach leg rebounds into their hands. He doesn't coach talau's butterfingers, he doesn't coach not wrapping up the ball. We are a currently a team who is all promise and potential and zero execution. I don't have the answer as to why the execution is not there, but the structures are. Remember, we have now, through the worst run of our season, been missing either our 5/8 or a centre on the edge. That's messed us up tremendously.

Add to that the damaging nature of momentum. Give one team 100% of the ball over the first 20 mins and it's near impossible to come back. Make that team Melbourne and its game over.

We were woeful.... But this is not a golden bullet coach issue. That's a cheap, easy excuse. It's an execution and effort issue. That is ENTIRELY on the players.

Really well written post.
I agree and it makes the solution so much harder to find as a result. Not sure we have enough players in reserve grade with the right attitude either but at this point we’ve got to try something as this group can string consecutive performances together
