It's going to be a strong deterrent too. The price tag on matto would have decreased by hundreds of thousands given that other clubs now know clearly that he and his agent are problematic. Maybe he's even now back to his Tigers salary.

I wonder if Robbie is going to become Mr Rent-A-Quote for the media, now that he has officially retired.

No back door benny has that position all tied up

@cochise He is still a westtigers player under contract until End of Oct I believe which makes him a current player and one that knows exactly what;s been going on.. Love him making the comments and confirming what most of us thought and shutting down the media about it been a clash with the Coach when its not....

Called it as he sees it in a respectful and well articulated manner and it was only part of a number of topics that were discussed including the tragedy of losing Teddy to the Roosters.
Shame it's been taken down because he basically backed the frustration that most have felt about the Matterson situation and the way contracts have become not worth the paper they are written on.

Good on robbie. Like how a senior player has come out and defended the club and coach. About time.
Going to be interesting who takes matterson because he is certainly going to come out of this as damaged goods.

Marsters gone, who is coming

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that Esan Marsters will depart the club ahead of the 2020 NRL season.
Marsters has been released from the final year of his playing contract with Wests Tigers to take up a long-term opportunity with another NRL club.
The 23-year-old made his first-grade debut for Wests Tigers in Round 13 of the 2017 season and has gone on to play 61 games for the club since, scoring 17 tries.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe thanked Marsters for his commitment to the club and wished him well in the future.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank Esan for his contribution to Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said.
“We were able to give Esan his first-grade debut several years ago and it’s been pleasing to see him grow and contribute in numerous ways since then.
“This new long-term deal is a great opportunity for him and we wish both he and his partner Isabelle all the best in the future.”

I don't care if his contract is finished, he has more than earnt the right to comment on our club. The fact he played this year just makes the comment more relevant in my opinion.

My money is on either Cronulla being unable to fit Jesse Remien into their 2020 squad or/and Lomax from the Dragons?

Unfortunately, my bet is on no one.

@avocadoontoast This is a all the way positive thing . Marsters wasn’t in Madge’s plans , and went backwards all year . This will be good for him . Also now the Cowboys are out of the Centre market , which leaves us in line for the Lomax , Ramien types . I don’t see a negative . I think the ... “you will see a lot of player movement this offseason” comment from Pascoe , wasn’t just speculation . This is the beginning not the end

If only we had a transfer window where clubs and players were open about moving around. It would be exciting.

I don’t have a major issue with Marsters leaving, but I don’t think it means we’ll be necessarily signing anyone.

The bottom line with Matterson is he is our best forward BY FAR................and a well run club would have sorted this out behind the scenes and kept him.

You don't see the Rorters, Storm... even Manly (Tapau wanted out and more money / no committed long term)...losing their best players in this manner..............

Things like this are why we are who we are...and yes, I am not backing the player, more that we need to manage these things better.

Tapau stays.
Bateman will stay.

Matterson will leave.

winners = manly, canberra...

losers = us, yet again.

I think we shouldn’t necessarily be after a player with Matterson being released...

We should tell the Club who wants to sign him that if they want him, they must sign either J Rey, Mbye, Packer or Mcqueen at full cost...

That is probably the only way we could get rid of them. I think a club like Titans would agree to that given they could use the services of Mbye or Reynolds...

This is exactly what we should do. You can have Matterson if you take Reynolds and Packer as well.

10000000% agree with you both. Pascoe MUST insist on a bad contract going also.

That's how the Sharks got Fifita, we off loaded Bryce Gibbs and they demanded AF or no deal.
