Interestingly mark O’Neil seems to be going okay at parra.

For those who missed read also said Maguire requested players train until the GF to get use to working during this period as we have been on an indefinite leave of absence which has ruffled feathers

No wonder Rochow retired, it was the only escape.

@Cultured_Bogan You are spot on mate, she was doing a great job.

Marina learned a lot on the job. She also was the chair during the JT fiasco and I believe her judgement during that period was clouded.
She handled Clearys defection admirably and, I was really disappointed by the board not backing her over the ambassador' s role.

Look, I'm not anti-Marina at all, but as noted she was here for 4.5 years *including* the firing of Potter, the hiring of Taylor, the firing of Taylor, the ousting of Farah, the hiring of Ivan, the defection of Ivan, the Farah salary cap penalty.

Fans are very quick to point fingers at Pascoe and now O'Farrell for either being around during these crises, or not making enough noise when crises are occurring. Marina was chair when Pascoe was hired.

I'm sure Marina did do a good job, but the club's track record during her tenure was ordinary. The club's track record during all tenures has been ordinary!

I cannot say, from the outside, how well or otherwise she truly performed and how much success was attributable to her, or issues not attributable to her.

So IMO the same arguments that people level at Pascoe, for example, can apply equally to Marina. Or, like myself, just accept that most of us don't really known what Go / Pascoe / O'Farrell can really be credited or discredited for from the outside.

Probably shared blame, but either both the board and the CEO or one of them should be accountable.

People love to rattle off how well we are travelling off the field but I can see no difference in the club since Go or Pascoe turned up.

That's true it's what you don't see..the amount of Corp $$$ attracted by Go during her tenure..and the fact we actually made an operating profit in the final year in her tenure as an example...

On the field is the responsibility of Football Operations....

Cheers Geo. This is where it gets murky as a lot of fans put the profit down to Pascoe. On that profit, do you know if that was before leagues club grant?

FWIW, extract below from Phil Rothfield's weekly column :

"WESTS Tigers star Ryan Matterson is desperately missing life at Sydney Roosters. He has told officials he does not enjoy playing under Michael Maguire and that his game is not improving under the coaching support staff. He also wants more money. Apart from that, everything’s sweet."

Coaching support staff. That's where we need more money spent.

Diddams Ryan, you can still buy lattes at Concord. No doubt missing those brown paper bags.

Bye Bye Ryan. Game is not improving? Didn’t he go from fringe first grader to fringe origin? Seems like decent improvement. Tell him we will release him to Titans only. Then he can see how his game goes.

I have little faith in the words of Rothfield but it wouldn't surprise me if there is some truth in this. I suspect the Roosters have a level of professionalism we should aspire to. Trent Robinson comes across as a calm, calculating coach who I'm sure is a smart man manager.

Yes, we all suspect there are under the table payments to players but we should be looking at the professionalism and club culture of successful teams and trying to emulate them.

Not many players seem to leave the Roosters by choice. Matterson was one and may well be regretting it.

Totally agree. If we can sign Matto for 350k it shows how well the roosters manage their cap. But it easier to blame paper bags, sombreros etc.
We're the problem!

Support staff is that Hodgson?

I'd say lack of support staff. Our assistant coach also coaches reserves. I don't think that happens at the better run clubs.

So Maguire rings Matterson who say he has no issues with the coaching staff but Buzz knows better..

Pascoe, OFarrell and the rest if the board can’t be held responsible for for seeing this, preventing this or suddenly resolving it if the player and manager are after some other solution that is not in the best interest of the club.

Some of them can be held responsible for our cap situation which makes this issue harder to resolve!

Can’t be held responsible for seeing this?!
What? That a recruit actually turned out amazing?
Yeah, I guess with their history it is pretty rare!

When we buy a player isn’t it our desperate hope that he improves and possibly becomes one of our best players?
Didn’t this just happen?
The best interest of the club IS to sign Matto to a long term contract.
Great recruitment Tigers! Now follow it up!

Yes it is, but we are in a situation that makes that difficult!

i really hope this is blown out of proportion because if it isnt im about to flip on my favorite tigers player. I am sick of the level of entitlement tbh. He was a nobody bench player at the roosters with zero chance of making the starting line up. We give him opportunity a free reign to ball play, a chance to show his skills which results in a nsw call up. Now if this crap is true and he is whinging he can go tbh.

But like i said i hope its just media beat up

@gallagher This takes money and a view to make the organisation professional.. one day the supporter base will realise where these decisions start and are implemented from ... but let’s not go there !

How do this sound? Major teams with gaps in their second row roster. They cannot be filled with the players on the market. Therefore, a manager commences a campaign of destabilisation to get his client free of his current contract for a big earner with a new (or old club) plus a healthy commission (on top of what he perhaps has received to run this campaign).

Very likely. Also, a player joins a club assuming a certain level of professionism. Finds out the place is a disaster and wants to leave.

Have you noticed the ex tigers playing in every semi this week? Every game!!
So many that you start to think it's us, not them thats the problem.
