For what it's worth, Buzz said on NRL 360 tonight, Matto will end up at the Titans

As much as i dislike it ill take Sami and Brimson thanks. Its a fair trade.

Arrow and Brimson for Reynolds & Matto would be heaps better

Of course it would but im being realistic.

If we covered the salary gap/freight we still end out infront roster wise. I’m not thinking a 1 for 1 swap. With the links between clubs and players could be an option. If the clubs actually talk.

All well and good but if Arrow leaves the Gold Coast the top teams like the Roosters will be all over him. We are next to no chance of signing him.

better to work out a realistic option.

From the horses mouth, he stated he is not chasing money he is going to a club with a chance to win a premiership.

So thats explains why he left the Roosters with their chronic lack of success and signed with us for 3 years since we're constantly challenging for the premiership...

Absolute crap and has nearly resulted in me losing all respect for him as a person - contrast that with when we signed him though and I’m not entirely sure everybody was THIS keen. It is a business, he does have an active contract but as others have pointed out; cannot force him!

And your comparing us to Manly because .......one sin binning from being one step from a GF and we destroyed by the team Manly destroyed

Manly have a strong history of performing ......the WT's ??????

Are you on one of your melancholy rampages again ?
?

Nah ......just amazes me how some always find it is always everyone's elses fault bar the WT's fault

...and some would blame the club for bad weather.

We have had more than our fair share of negative publicity.potter Farah thing
Botched attempts to resign JAC
The Taylor years with the Farah sacking
Clearygate
Salary cap breach
And now Matto thing

At some point you have to look ar yourself and ask some hard questions

This a thousand times, and you can add the ‘big 3’ debacle to that list as well.

I just want one year, just one bloody off season where we are not in the news for all the wrong reasons - is that too much to ask?

You're going a bit OTT. Outside of the forum, I haven't seen anything about this for a week. The club hasn't done anything wrong, nor has anyone in the media claimed we have. Its been the opposite, we've received a lot of sympathy. To put it in perspective, a player wants out of his contract, he hasn't been accused of rape or been done drink driving. And it's not a situation where the club will be dudded like it was with the big 3, cos we have him under contract for 2 more years. And the only way that changes is if we can get a better outcome than we would by keeping him. Exactly like the Cleary situation. You complain about that, but there's no doubting we came out of that drama better for it with a better coach.

It’s still being talked about in the media, not just on here. And it’s still negative publicity and unwanted drama surrounding our club whether we’re to blame or not. We may have received a lot of sympathy as we did with the Cleary situation - big deal! It still begs the question, why would players/coaches rather leave than stay?

So its our fault Cleary was so desperate to coach his son?

Yes ...**we didn't ask the right questions in the interviewing process obviously**

Would it have mattered? The guys was still saying how much he loved being at WT and getting upset about people questioning his integrity all the while going behind one of his great friends back and negotiating a deal at Penrith......oops i mean talking to the Chairman at Penrith about buying his house.
The guy was /is clearly a liar and judging by our Chairs comments at the time about Nathan coming to Wests, how do you know those questions weren't asked in the interview process?

It was brought up at the time during an interview with Pascoe .....he wasn't asked about Nathan and Iv

Being reported Bird will end up at the Dragons and Frizzell wants out.
They can have Matterson for Frizzell and we'll take Lomax so they can squeeze Bird in.
Hunt , apparently is also homesick ... we should offer up Reynolds to help fill the hole a little...

Yep, take frizzy, there ya go J. Rey we’ll even help to pack your bags... oh - what’s that? Packer wants to go back to the Dragons and forfeit his remaining monies owed?? I don’t believe it... guys if we seriously do lose Matto before the end of his contract we won’t be coming out on top in this break up . Can promise ya that

Based on what? We don't have to do anything if it doesn't benefit us. This is what all the pessimists don't seem to understand.

We've heard it all before too many times ........

As usual we will be removing something from our rectal cavity once it is all said and done

@happy_tiger

Hey champion happy_tiger, we have turned a corner (I think) if you go by the Coach Cleary wash-up.
We not only got a premiership winning coach out of it, we also got $$$ compensation from Penrith on top - so I reckon we're all but certain to not be fools on this occasion either.

Keep the faith.

I wish I had your belief Tiger_1

The Cleary / Maguire changeover has set us back 2 seasons at the least

We have 5 players worth probably close to $2.5 million who won't get used in 2020

We don't have a recognized 9 until Rd 20 at best and our best attacking weapon turns 36

I can't see enough upside in our juniors (Garner and Mikaele ) to make up for our deficiencies in 2020 especially if we lose Matterson

We have no cap space to buy anyone in unless we can find someone stupid enough to take Packer or the likes off our hands

By the time we find out whether we can find out if Matulino can be medically retired who will be left on the market ???

Be a modern day miracle if we get into the same situation we were this season by Rd 25 in my opinion

Parramatta got the spoon last year. This year they were a chance of a premiership. Canberra missed the 8 last year, now they have a home prelim final. It can vary widely every year and every team can be considered a chance of a premiership, if they get enough quality players on board.

Cut him loose for the benefit of every one involved obviously he doesn’t want to be here. Get the best deal you can for the club.
We don’t need any more poison there’s already enough here.

Parra were zero chance of a premiership this year. Classic flat trackers.

@iofthetigers oh ok.that could be a problem then.I believe we may struggle next year but from there we should be looking at consistently being top 8 if Madge and the club recruits well. All we can do is hope that Madge is able to sell the dream to him.

@happy_tiger

Mikaele is going to be a great player one we must keep . He needs to play as a running second rower though . Garner has developed really well this year & I expect he will continue to develop next. Agree with yr Matulino & Packer thoughts.
