**Matterson’s had ample time to make some kind of statement just as he had the time to discredit the coach and the Weststigers organisation, instead his left it to fester and grow...**

Good on McQueen for having a laugh at Matterson expense, if the previous administration signed and sealed McQueens contract to the amount that you have suggested blame the WTs not him for being astute enough to take it...

And I guess if anyone has the right to express their displeasure at the drama Matterson has created for the Weststigers playing group would be his team mates don’t you think?

Re Matterson, playing Devil's Advocate here...but he had documented mental health issues this season and he is on holidays. So, for all we know, he has completely tuned out footy for a few weeks. Let's wait for him to comment when he returns...

Re making comment...Esan was linked with a move to Nth QLD 6 weeks ago. Esan posted on his social media it was a flat out lie and he "loved this club".

Six weeks later, it has all been proven true.

So, Matterson's lack of comment = we are slaughtering him.

Esan blatanly told a large porky pie = everyone is now going on about how well he handled it.

Both self interest. One showed respect for the club and coach, the other kicked the coach and the club to the kerb and has had ample opportunity to rectify that and hasn't. That's why he has lost the support of fans and players it seems.

Matterson has not said a word mate. Let's at least wait until we hear from him.

Twal loves him. Even Farah said "i love Matto" in his criticism the other day....Aloai cited Matto as a key reason he is staying. So, it is not like outirght hatred,

McQueen is the only one to take a shot...funny that, same position. McQueen on more, basically us funding his retirement for zero reward.

I personally would rather Matterson stayed quiet than blatantly lie. Let's just wait and see what he says when he returns from his holidays.

To me it’s an obsolete comment as Esan was advised by Madge to take the deal that was on offer as WTs wouldn’t/couldn’t match it...And as David Nofoaluma said to him on Twitter once a Weststigers always a Weststiger.

And people will tell you Ivan Cleary is a good bloke too if you are his friend - he still did the dirty on our club. All he had to do is refute what has been reported - which has all been damaging for the club and his coach - and he hasn't said a word. You want the club to regain some credibilty but you are defending a player who has put doubt into everyone's head about the professionalism of the club and the coach. A player who coincidently played his best footy with us.
The silence has gone on too long.

Didn’t you post a photo of Matterson dancing after a game to imply the rumours about him were untrue? Give it up.

Yes I did, but look at the time line, that was posted right back at the beginning before more information came to hand on the way his conducted himself in regards to Madge, Weststigers Org and the fans.

@ElleryHanley Jebus dude that is all you have been of late. For yourself and us put the keyboard down and go do something that makes you happy because posting about the tigers sure doesnt

@ElleryHanley how do you know he did. Maybe he does love the club but his management was talking to other clubs re the poms comments on an extension and testing market value. Like i said before do something that makes you happy mate this sure doesnt

Seems real? It only has two things up...that post and one about his kid brother.

I am debating how we can improve and whether players like Matterson need to comment publicly...happy as Larry mate.

Sitting here and pretending everything is fine, hero worshipping players etc is fine also if you want to go that way. But criticism is not always a negative.

And for your info, the keyboard is down. It sits on a mat...

Rather than a personal attack, maybe you could debate a point with some merit? You can PM me if you want rather than do it here.

I just hope the WT's haven't gone off half cocked with Marsters

He was good in 2018 ...lets hope it wasn't 2nd year syndrome and he hits another gear in 2020 and beyond

As for the Matterson situation , the longer it draws out the smaller the pool of players to replace him with if he leaves

Time for a line in the sand ......give him date .......then we move on with or without him

Bet that's what Melbourne /Roosters etc would have done by now

I do not think we necessarily have to replace Matterson, more that we need to align Josh with any deal.

If a club took Matto 'and' Josh went with him then that itself would be a win.

FWIW there was a post earlier on social media (however reliable that is) that the Titans have a choice of Josh 400 / 400 split....or Milford 300 / 700 split.

So, if they take Josh and Matterson goes also....right there would be 400 (Josh) plus 450 Matterson (he is on more in 2020 than 2019) freed up.

850 000 would be a nice starting spot to rebuild. Ben retired = massive bonus also.

Personally, I do not think we should aim at 2020.

But 2021 could be a whole new start if we build properly.

Anyone carrying in about how Matto should come out and say where he's at are kidding themselves. He's on a (self imposed) hiding to nothing. So him publicly saying that he's not happy with the club, coach, amenities, team mates, policies etc will serve no purpose other than cause further controversy and put the spotlight fairly on him as well as the club. The outcome of which would be crap for both. The critical info is out thanks to dodgy managers. Alternative clubs will source him now if he fits their bill. If not, I guess he'll roll around again for us. And he'll probably be our best player - or close to it. As much of a jerk as I now think he is, I don't believe he's like Mitchell Moses.
But anyway, can we just quit with the "come out and say something" line? It's ridiculous to think that's gonna happen.

Tedesco (Aus)
Woods (Aus)
Matterson going (our only rep level player)
Moses (massive sook, but laid on 31 tries this season)
JAC (Aus)
Pap (Roos 9s and train on)
Douehi Souths best in this year’s semis / Bennet a huge fan.
Fifita (Aus)
Brown (player of the year at Parra after he left / forward leader for a top 4 team)
There is a trend of us losing rep level players/ paying massive overs for blokes we have kept

As far as rep or elite level footballers go, that's an extraordinarily weak list. And none of them fled. I started to get into player specifics but it's pointless, you have Mitch Moses and Doueihi listed as elite players, how can I argue with that.

G'day @ElleryHanley: good to see someone, at last, seeing it the way it actually is.
I said in a post a couple of weeks ago that a lot of crap was being said about Ryan Matterson. So much that I started to change my mind about him, but thankfully you have bought me back to reality with a thud.

It's way past time that we should be giving Matterson a break, until we all actually know the REAL reason he want's out.

G'day @hodgo: I say good on yuh @ElleryHanley for having the guts to go against the views of nearly everyone else on this forum 😛oint_up: :fa-smile-o:

In fact, we need to see more of it, and in a few different areas.

Just trying for some constructive debate mate 🙂

Being a fan IMO is wanting the best for the club, even if that means hard truths.

Back slapping people is nice, but rarely gets anywhere...

Really ???

He should have come out and said he loved the club alal Marsters. He should have said I'm looking to extend and upgrade my contract ala Marsters.

If we choose to let him go for his own future ala Marsters it's cool.

Some posters seem to be unrealistically ultra critical of the club and let players off scot free.

I try to judge the situation on it's merit but I'm a Tigers fan.

Agree. We should only use that cap space (if it indeed eventuates,) for signings that will improve the squad, otherwise promote some promising kids and front load a few players for 2021.
