Injury can cruel careers. Matulino played his hardest every week would have been one of the best props of the last decade if he was fit. Left a big hole upfront.

We went better without him imo

Not early.

He was very solid for us, especially defensively. I feel we would have had a much better chance at making the finals had he stayed healthy.

Yeah, did no worse than hold his own, plus had the quickest play the ball in our middle and also the biggest hitter in defence amongst them right up until his last minute of footy.

Does anyone know a timeline for this decision ? Could be end of next year as the NRL are doing this.

Knowing our luck it will coincide with the end of his contract.

Club hopes to have an answer on Ben Matulino medical retirement within the next week https://twitter.com/CastTiger/status/1177414183182188544?s=19

Knowing our luck the poor bloke will retire and we will cop a cap penalty for not filling in the paperwork correctly. C’mon Tigers!!

Hope they highlight the correct knee in the paperwork - perhaps include a photo to make sure.

Kneebone connected to the hip pocket .....

@TheDaBoss

Heard that there was sposed to be a result on this application for injury retirement this week, cutting it fine

@rex2ce NRL- "It's a Wests Tigers player therefore no hurry with the decision = NRL treats Tigers with disdain.

This decision makes or breaks our season in 2020 IMO.

Ben gone = two new forwards.

Ben staying = yet another bloke watching the whole season on huge money...

@ElleryHanley Is the story that he absolutely cannot make it back onto the field? Be interesting to see what Madge does if this doesn't get through insurance. Would he try to get Ben back out there?

@Roar_Power He couldn't surely. It would destroy Madge's credibility with the power brokers at NRL forever after

Well, I do not see how we could apply to med retire a bloke and 'then' play him again.

So, it seems to be we get his cap space cleared or nothing.

Remind me, how did Souths get Inglis off their cap for his last year? Wasn't it they asked nicely and NRL said yes? Can't remember what the official story was...

G'day @Roar_Power: re your "would he [Madge] try to get Ben back out there".

You can bet your life he would, as the precedent has already been set with Farah being asked by Madge to play with a broken leg.
