Connor Watson

I had a bad feeling when the bozzos from the telecrap came out and made such a huge deal on us potentially signing watson turned him off signing with us. That crap they pulled with lolohea getting burnt makes us look bad. Thank slothfield and co for potentially costing us a great signing.

I live in the Shire and word is that If Cronk will sign with the Sharks and be announced Monday next week. Maloney will be released to the Knights in 2018\. You can expect Connor Watson to sign with the Tigers. Knights may have Hodko, Maloney and Ponga in the spine.

If Cronk retires I would suggest Watson may be Newcastle bound. You'd have to think he would sign with the Tigers irrespective.

I've heard similar rumblings - made me think we started filling up the bus too quick as I would much rather Maloney than Reynolds and Watson together.
Although the word is the Knights are offering $1 million a year to Maloney if he can away from the Sharkies…. a lot of dough.

Maloney has form he left Storm, Warriors, Roosters. I don't think he has ever extended at any club. He's not worth 1m for us we have too many holes in the roster.
I think Watson and Reynolds is smarter as it's similar money and Maloney is 31\. His goal kicking is great and he is a great player but I don't think Cleary is looking for 7 figure players.

Watson had his second tour of knights facilities last week. He's gonna get a release. Tigers or knights is his destination. Tigers still front runners I've been told.

Why would he need a second tour? Seems a bit odd IMO. If he waits a couple more weeks he can do a 3rd tour and check out the shiny new wooden spoon in their trophy cabinet.
If a potential signing is gonna umm and ahhh and fart around for months making his decision he probably isn't the sort of bloke you'd want at your club.

Pretty big decision he's making. Gotta make sure of it

I guess so. But contracts being what they are these days if Watson makes a decision but then decides next year he has made the wrong one then he can just do a Mitch and put on the spoilt brat routine until he gets a release to another club of his liking. The Moses clause.

If he has toured our facilities then we have no chance. He'll see first hand how shoddy they are.

They were good enough for all the other players we've signed. Players that have played over 200 games, played grand finals and represented their state and country haven't been put off by them. But if a 21 year old unproven upstart has a problem, who needs him?

Maybe our facilities aren't even a problem. Aren't the Dogs facilities meant to be unreal. We signed Reynolds.

I have no idea how bigger factor facilities play in the mind of players when making a decision between two clubs but its frustrating that its an advantage that all other clubs seem to have over us, and no doubt use.I for one will be glad when base/facilities are sorted so we match or are superior to other clubs.
The very fact that all players seem to tour clubs before signing contracts suggests that it does come into play at some level.

It's not only the facilities in my view, he may be thinking of moving there? closer to the water, cheaper home in invest in etc, young bloke mind..it's not a good sign if his been back twice in a short space of time

Money the deciding factor in that decision I would suggest Earl.

This saga has so many parallels with the Lolohea saga.

He's signed…oh wait maybe not....yes he will be coming we just have to wait for....now he's looking at.....

It's a lot of speculation for a young player who has talent but does he really have what it takes it make it - that is the unknown.

Would be a good signing but he's not the key ingredient we need to be competitive. I'd rather all this talk over a couple of decent forwards

You are correct more forwards should be our focus at this stage

I just don't understand why everyone cares so much. Why are we wasting time and money on an unproven half when we still need to strengthen the pack. I don't get it. 33 pages for this kid is ridiculous.

Connor Watson is not a half…. If we want a back up half from the Rorters we should be targeting Mitch Cornish....

The offer is good to Watson if he doesn't want to commit then move on and be done with it...second thoughts we don't need...

Someone confirmed that Big League magazine had confirmed Watson was on board.

Someone else confirmed the we should expect more forward signings.

Someone else confirmed we are waiting for advice from Morgan Boyle on our offer.

Hopefully Rona comes on board and we are looking pretty healthy for next year.

Anyone heard that Souths are having difficulty extending Crichton? Apparently a neighbouring club has an interest. Probably go to that club for less!

Well with this year being over from about Round 5, we've had to talk about something to keep us going.

Couple more forwards is what we need. And one of Watson/ Rona (or another back on decent money). Then we can still afford 2 or 3 decent forwards.

Roosters I think
