Nathan Brown was just on radio saying he expects Newcastle to be able to announce 3 or 4 signings coming from top clubs over the next week.

Yes the rejects from top clubs

I hear its Moga, Ese'ese, Tim Grant, Brenton Lawrence. They will sign Grant if they miss out on Ese'Ese and Lawrence may go to ESL.

Brown says way too much to the media about their recruitment… totally different approach to Cleary... which is why Browm misses out on so many signings

Agree he also throws players under the bus in press conferences which, is unprofessional. Particularly poor with such a young squad that is struggling. Id be very surprised if Watson ends up at Newcastle.

If we have offered him 450k, I'd rather we double that and buy a marquee player as opposed to 2 players

Name one 900k marquee player available for the 2018 season.

Might have to confirm with Tacky, but I think James Roberts is STILL off contract.

Can confirm, James Roberts is _**still**_ off-contract.

Only 24 as well.

Can't see him leaving the Broncos they will sign him for a Chicken Big Mac Meal up sized.

I hope we get him. It will be good to have competition for places in ever position. Also looking forward to see how Gamble goes during the preseason.

In this weeks big league club news it mentions the tigers have snared the signing of young gun Connor Watson

Thanks for the news. It is hard to reconcile all the quality signing news this year after years of surviving on juniors and players unwanted by other clubs.

Hel go well at fullback. Tui is a dynamic player but his fitness levels and way of going missimg now and then is not what we need in a fullback. You want a player that plays 100% and wants to be involved. His pace will be good too.

tbh I'm struggling to see why Watson will be a better fullback option than Lolohea. Of the games I've seen (going back to Lolohea's rookie season in 2015) Lolohea looks to be a more skilful player..

Serious question….Has Watson got any passing game?
He can run, side step etc. Haven't really seen him pass efficiently.
Mind you...might not be his fault as the Roosters bring him on to be sharp and direct with running game primary focus.

Yes, he's got a bullet pass on him and seems to have decent pass selection and timing. Does seem to have a touch of the Brooks though where he's happy to throw a pass to a catcher under extreme pressure. Chris Lawrence won't like him if he comes.

Pretty interesting insight Nelson, very good point

On DT live they've said Connor was spotted up in Newcastle with his mum touring the facilities

So why was their such a fuss about the tigers landing the signing of watson if in fact he is still touring newcastle facilitys i dont get it.

He's probably still looking at his options, waiting for the Roosters to agree to let him go so he can then sign with a club….....

Could be thinking too much but I reckon he'll sign with the Knights, when he was a kid he was on the Footy Show and someone asked him if he had the possibility to sign with any NRL club of his choice who would he sign for........ he choose Knights, must have some sort of soft spot and with Knights practically having no cemented spots in the spine it gives Watson practically a 100% chance of starting next year, whereas at the Tigers he'll be fighting for a spot just like he is doing at the Roosters.

Watson is a gun player and Id be very happy to have him at the Tigers, has a quality running and passing game...... He's more a fullback then anything.

Has to be true if the DT is reporting it lol

i wouldnt be surprised if Aidan Guerra and Shaun Kenny-Dowall
have something to do with Watson signing with the Knights.
(if he does end up signing with them)
i wouldnt put it past the knights using those two players to try and
persuade him to go there.

I had a bad feeling when the bozzos from the telecrap came out and made such a huge deal on us potentially signing watson turned him off signing with us. That crap they pulled with lolohea getting burnt makes us look bad. Thank slothfield and co for potentially costing us a great signing.

I live in the Shire and word is that If Cronk will sign with the Sharks and be announced Monday next week. Maloney will be released to the Knights in 2018\. You can expect Connor Watson to sign with the Tigers. Knights may have Hodko, Maloney and Ponga in the spine.

If Cronk retires I would suggest Watson may be Newcastle bound. You'd have to think he would sign with the Tigers irrespective.
