A team like the roosters is very smart and very very well connected.
Sure players go there for less. i.e Tedesco for the potential success the club can bring.
However there are little things they do "off the books"
There is a few cafe's and bars players can go to and never have to pay.
Cheaper new cars, clothes, electronics , holidays etc.
None of that would be reported on the salary cap.
Now i don't know if every club does things like that. Just going off what i have been told.
They are a club that is very well connected and there is opportunity for them to use those connections to help attract players.
corporate connections..
woolies coles partner with several places like car rentals, flights, accomodation places, event cinemas etc . None of the savings from that would be included in the employee's "taxes"
we are so far behind in these things it's ridiculous.
players care about $$ for sure but it's the extra things like the coaching staff, trainers, physios, exercise physiologists, that sports psychologist guy, benefits from corporate sponsors that we'll barely ever be able to compete with.
