Connor Watson

I find it hilarious how naive some people are when it comes to cash payments.

It doesn't have to be cash though. The point is that it would be very easy to bypass the NRL when it comes to obtaining additional income. The Rorters for instance pay the stupid one $800k on the books but they also provide him with a side income from advertising a new cafe that pays him $200k for having a cup of coffee there once per year. I think Melbourne would charge for the marquee being put up on the field and pay that to their players off the books.

Anyone thinking that their club wouldn't do the same thing ,
( A. If they had enough money
B. If they thought they could get away without being caught).
Are just being nieve, or very charitable to say the least.

Most clubs would all sell their grandmother it it would win a Competition for them.
It's a bit like The Storms cheating. It was illegal, , but they got the benefit , and are still getting the services of players that were involved , as well as the Coach.
Yet , They are held up as a great club. It was worth it to them.
The Broncos have done miraculous things with money right from day 1.
Yet they have managed to escape the possible consequences, even though it took the resignation
Of Gee to keep them away from some very hard questions, funny thing that was as I believe he's back with them again.
Most clubs are creative with their accounts, but most aren't as good as the big boys are.

It's also the same with the no 1 problem in the game, wrestling, and time wasting.
Melbourne started it and have perfected it Some have copied it, but usually not as well as the Storm. But it's usually the weaker teams that complain about it loudest.
If they were as good at it, they'd be into in a heartbeat.
The clubs that can , Do.

I doubt that there is a club in the NRL that wouldn't ignore the Cap if they had the chance to get away with it

Rosters salary cap rorting

Gains - Tedesco

Loses - Guerra, Kenny-Dowall, Carter, Knight, Watson

NBA trade machine would accept (Chris Paul for Beverly, Dekker, Lou Williams, Harrell and a first round pick)

Not to mention that the cap is increasing upwards of 1.5-2 million…

So please can we dump the Roosters rorting the cap stuff?

I had a beer with Brett kinmorely a few years ago. He has a very interesting story about the time he was negotiating with the roosters (was when he left Melbourne), I'll leave it at that.

I can tell you i know the father of a former fringe forward who says his son came home with 100k in cash on top of his contract. This is words from the players father. His son was an average fringe player. I also know what perks Tedesco is getting outside the cap too. Roosters, um lets say "petty cash department" pay for everything in his life. Dinners, clothes etc. He pays for nothing ever again is what he's been told.

There will be a whistle blower one day, there has to be.

100K in cash? i find that difficult to believe, there are many issues with receiving that king of money in cash, money laundering comes to mind, how do you process this in your tax return, i suppose you are saying you don't, well i think that's stretching things for the individual involved, essentially involving him in criminal activity. There is also the added problem of not being able to deposit more that than $9,999.99 into an account or buy anything in cash for over this amount without setting of alarms.

I don't know mate, maybe this happened but there would need to be an instruction manual with it for it to work and no one get caught.

I can assure you that depositing $9,999.99 would set off a lot more alarms than depositing > $10,000.

Has something happened since he announced hes going east til now, all this renewed & increased anger…sorry I havent been paying much attention

No not really…besides there is actually nothing official about Watson...

Just it's not fair other Clubs do things much much better than Wests Tigers...

It's like catch up TV,,

No players, coaches or managers have ever been banned for the exposed cap rorts.
If they had been given Simona like punishments it likely would've stopped a while ago

Minichiello confirmed that Watson is going to Newcastle on Fox League, when asked a question by Hooper.

I can guarantee it would.

Yeah who still has 1 or 2 cent coins ? Alarm bells right there !

Yeah!…. But.!... The reason that they haven't been caught , is because they wouldn't even consider being involved in rorting or cheating.

But thats the problem - a few clubs know they will get away with it and do while others ponder whether its worth it.

I'd like to think that they'd be hesitant to try, but I think it's only the fact that they don't have the money to do it, or the people who could pull it off , that stops them.

While all this talk of cap rorting is going on, I've heard a certain car-dealing club official likes playing golf with his player and making wagers along the lines of:

'Hey Teddy, I bet you five grand I get a hole in one on this next hole… THWACK... ohhhh missed, here's your money mate, a bet's a bet'

That is both clever and funny, but the sad truth is that little story is probably very close to reality…

Thats been round for years, Anasta & Wing might have some stories to tell on that topic…

Connor Watson must not be a very good Golfer…

He's not yet in the upper echelons of the Roosters, where you get invited to golf. He plays putt-putt with the physio for free beers.

Braith was going so well at the Roosters golf caper that he actually legit thought he was a quality golfer, he thought 20-over entitled him to a big payday. "What do you mean a score of zero is average?"

Anasta is a very good golfer. I think he is off scratch or plus two. So pretty good.

As for Watson, if he has signed with Newcastle, why is this thread still going?
