Connor Watson

John Gibbs must have got his clubs confused when he said during the roosters v knights coverage that Connor has signed with us 😂

Calling it now, 50 pages before the end of the week and the conversation will have turned to the Rooster's salary cap or, even better, Tedesco and Woods.

Bingo!

Where do I cash out?

Anasta is a very good golfer. I think he is off scratch or plus two. So pretty good.

As for Watson, if he has signed with Newcastle, why is this thread still going?

Sarcasm! He qualified for the NSW Open right, he has to be decent.

Nothing decent about him.

The NRL website stating nothing is confirmed yet with Conner Watson and he stated that after the game himself. His energy is something we as a club need but I'm not sure where he will play if we do get him.

Well if you have a spine of Tui, Grub, Brooks and Liddle; Watson has to be a bench utility. Ideally we want 4 forwards on the bench so the only way to fit Watson is to have 2 80 minute back-rowers. Then our bench would be 2 props, 1 lock and 1 utility.

Something like

8\. Matulino
9\. Liddle
10\. Packer
11\. McQueen
12\. ET
13\. Aloiai/Eisenhuth

14\. Watson
15\. Aloiai/Eisenhuth
16\. 'Twal
17\. Grant/Sue/New recruit

Watson provides contract update

Watson provides contract update
In-demand Roosters utility Connor Watson says his future remains undecided after he played a starring role in Friday's 28-4 win over the Knights; ironically one of the two teams chasing his signature for 2018 and beyond.

The gifted 21-year-old is contracted to the Roosters for next season but there has been speculation the playmaker will join either the Knights or the Wests Tigers on a lucrative deal if granted an early release by the Roosters.

It's been a big 12 months for Watson who made his NRL debut last year and was named the MVP at the Auckland Nines back in February but has struggled to break into the Roosters' starting side in 2017.

Keen to focus on Friday's win and his side's impressive form, Watson said there hadn't been any advancement in contract negotiations and that he would update the situation if and when anything happened.

"Obviously nothing's been confirmed and nothing's set in stone at the moment so it was just another game of footy for me," Watson said after the game.

"I'm really enjoying playing for the Roosters this year and that's where my focus is at the moment. We're in a great spot at the moment - obviously very different to where we were last year – so I'm really enjoying the footy that we're playing at the moment.

"It's still just us talking about it but it's not something that I want to get into tonight. Whenever it's all sorted we'll work it out."

Playing against his potential employers next season in a position he's not used to, Watson stole the show at fullback with 134 running metres, two line breaks and eight tackle busts in a performance that caught the eye of Knights coach Nathan Brown.

Brown was respectful when asked if a deal had been brokered between the two parties, telling media after the game that nothing had been finalised, and even if it had, it was up to the Roosters whether they wanted to let their young star go.

"I had a good look at him and he certainly caused us plenty of trouble. He's lively, very lively," he said.

"As we've said all along, he's certainly a player we're interested in and the Tigers are interested in. With the blessing of the Roosters, us and the Tigers have both spoken to him but whether the Roosters decide to let Connor go or not, and then whether he decides to come to us, that's one for the Roosters and for Connor I suppose."

Newcastle odds on. Us and Easts still in with a slim chance.
Is that the general consensus?

P.s. I'm glad no body went off early and shut this tread. It has a life of its own

Oh yeah and for those who continually call for threads to be locked/closed whatever..

I suggest familiarise with this topic… http://www.weststigersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=29491

I'm sick of this thread. I'm so sick of it I am going to post in it telling others how sick of it I am. I don't want to discuss this anymore so the thread should be locked. Because God forbid I just ignore it and just not open it.

Now let's start from scratch and do it properly

2 clubs chasing Connor Watson

I doubt the roosters will let him go.

Did someone say Golf?

Quick summery, CW has signed with the Tigers and Newcastle or an NRL club, he can't play Golf otherwise would have stayed at east and tapped the polites money train. Many want the thread to be closed but others are cool with it. If you have inside info then you shouldn't share it in the forum at the risk of being smashed or you should and let others deal with it how they like. BBF has an unhealthy obsession with RF. Tacky wins a rubber chicken for guessing the thread would go over 50 pages.

So is CW coming?

Dont know where he is headed but this what jumped out when i read the NRL article

Playing against his potential employers next season in a position he's not used to, Watson stole the show at fullback with _134 running metres, two line breaks and eight tackle busts_ in a performance that caught the eye of Knights coach Nathan Brown.

I know many here have said he is unproven talent but if he is consistent with these numbers he will be a super star for sure (IMO)

I watched the game, he has some work to do to be a NRL fullback, but his attack caused the knights no end of trouble.
