Dear Raelene, you certainly have your work cut out for you.
The grand final which I attended six months ago was the first Bulldogs game I had been to in four years.
I stopped going to any games that my team plays against the Bulldogs because I got sick of the mindless aggression of many, not a few, of your club's supporters.
I was once punched by a Bulldog supporter while my letting nature take its course in the men's toilets. I was spat on once while catching the train home, and that's not to mention the attempted intimidation by bands of Bulldog supporters who seem to be buoyed by safety in numbers.
I gave up going to any Bulldog games.
It's not enjoyable. I have better things to do with my time.
Your club has some serious issues among segments of your supporter base.
I've long since stopped listening to the "family club" tag.
It was once a family club, thirty odd years ago when the Hughes and Mortimer brothers played, but it is now a club in need of REAL change, and not just some nice tag lines.
You and the board might want to start with your petulant coach who sets much of the expectations, and proceed on to the club captain, who so often fails to show true leadership qualities.
The rot has well and truly set in. Good luck trying to revive what was once a leading club. It's been overtaken by an over zealous minority who are determined to cause trouble. Dogs of War indeed.
