Let me get this straight. The world is in the grip of a pandemic that has killed 100 in Australia, 250K worldwide, has been proven to be easily transmitted and has resulted in the closure of thousands of businesses and put 10's of thousands out of work, but if you question the logistics of how the NRL would treat and isolate a positive case in an environment of close physical contact, you are an idiot?

So you are saying the NRL are in no better or informed position than the USA was 6-8 weeks ago (and it continues to bury its head in the sand to this day)? I wouldn't be calling anyone an idiot mate.

Take a big deep breath, re-read what I said and what Gallagher said in his post that I am responding to. Gallagher said that anyone who disagreed with him was an idiot. I merely made the argument that anyone who disagrees with him actually has a pretty sound reason to think that way.

Genuinely not sure what you mean about the US 6 weeks ago.

So lets say my work colleague has tested postive. He taken away and is treated. They then test everyone in my workplace and we all get cleared. can we return to work or is the business closed down?

You didnt answer my question.

But Ill answer yours.

To take your analogy, someone from your workplace tests positive and say you are say......Josh Reynolds. Ok, so in your analogy, the whole team and staff get isolated and tested, that is two days off work. BEST CASE scenario, Tigers lose two days (probably more) training in a possible 5-6 day turnaround. Fair scenario?

Factor in that it takes 24 hrs to get results, that means that you were infectious yesterday at training. What if you played yesterday? That is 34-50 people potentially impacted, again best case scenario.

These two scenarios are best case but they dont actually factor in that this virus is VERY transmissible. All of these other cases, nursing homes etc, they werent running around tacking each other, they were practicing social distancing and good hygiene. Chances are one positive infects a few people, then what?

Im not saying they cant or shouldnt get back into it, but IMO to simply say a positive is simple case of isolation and play on is I think very simplistic and naive.

All thats correct. So lots of people were possibly infected by one person but have now been tested and are clear. can they go back to work?

You seriously cant see the issue if two teams have to have 3 days off work? A NRL players job is different to packing shelves.

And if they are not cleared?

The whole thing will fall down. I was respeonding to a scenario of a player testing positive and a poster saying the comp would need to close down if that happened. I gave a specific example of how it could continue.

Gallagher called Peter Fitzsimons an idiot. That's a fair enough call, he seems to have a pretty strong agenda against rugby league in general.
About using the USA as an example: you quoted statistics about the worldwide death toll etc so I was saying the NRL would be a hell of a lot more informed/educated and aware of the dangers of this virus compared to where the world was at in regards to knowledge 6-8 weeks ago, when the majority of these deaths would of first originated and incubated.

As I have explained over and over in this thread there are many scenarios in which a positive case of COVID could result in the competition not being able to continue. Not the least of which is that ONE case, leads to a second case and then in *your own words* "The whole thing will fall down".

I really dont see the mystery. There are so many scenarios that are possible that either halt the comp or make it look irresponsible. All of these scenarios are very possible and are not wild conspiracy scenarios. Doesnt make me an idiot (IMO yours clearly differs).

If a player tested positive, his opponents and teammates would then get tested . If they are all cleared then of course it would continue. Idiots like the red bandana knob would disagree of course.

While your on the topic telling people to re-read posts. I DID NOT say that anyone disagreeing with me is an idiot. I gave a specific example of a way the NRL could continue.

"*If a player tested positive, his opponents and teammates would then get tested . If they are all cleared then of course it would continue. **Idiots** like the red bandana knob **would disagree** of course.*"

Help me with comprehension, if someone disagrees that it would continue, are they an idiot?

With that scenario yes. If someone disagrees with me in general that does not make them an idiot.

If people in any workforce are clear of the virus and are legally free to work then why shouldnt they?

Ok so I was correct, Thanks for clearing that up.

As I have stated many times recently, there are many reasons that that scenario is not as simple as you stated and many possibilities why it could be unworkable. Its a pretty solid case to disgree with you, and not everyone who thinks that is an idiot.

So you think one case of corona in the NRL will stop the comp completely?

As I have explained over and over in this thread there are many scenarios in which a positive case of COVID could result in the competition not being able to continue. Not the least of which is that ONE case, leads to a second case and then in *your own words* "The whole thing will fall down".

I really dont see the mystery. There are so many scenarios that are possible that either halt the comp or make it look irresponsible. All of these scenarios are very possible and are not wild conspiracy scenarios. Doesnt make me an idiot (IMO yours clearly differs).

My ' idiot ' call was directed that those who think if there is a single case that the NRL will definitely stop. No chance of it going ahead. That's just stupid.

I totally agree that there could be several scenarios that might mean it has to stop.

What if it's a high profile player who gets covid? A player who the team depends upon above all others? For Storm - Cam Smith, Souths - Adam Reynolds, us - Luke Brooks... these teams would have their aspirations significantly impacted then and would find it very hard to compete. I'm sure in that case the team would argue they can't continue as it wouldn't be fair to them.

And I feel that they might have a point. In that scenario, a single case of covid in the NRL might (not definitely) cause the NRL to stop.

That would be bad luck for that team but I couldn't see the NRL stopping the comp. But yes it's a possibility.

So if Cammy did a hammy..stop the comp..

Good point, an illness is an Illness. If they stopped it this year for a corona case would they have to stop.it next year if another player gets another illness?
