Government - Can't have more than 5 people at a Wedding or Funeral

Same Government - 3 million Queenslaners get out there, line up and vote.

Not the same government

That's the problem. State and Federal aren't on the same page and they need to be in regards to this.

No, a true leader would have taken control and told states it was a national emegency and all states would be following the decisions made by Federal govt as one. As it is now its no better than a dogs breakfast - all over the place.

It's not that simple.... Schools for example all fall under state govt jurisdiction...Fed Govt has no control there, I'm sure there's many other instances like that

The majority of things involved in this crisis fall under state control such as hospitals, schools, police, legal systems etc. That's why all of Morrison's announcements have to be put into law by the states!

same as the recent bushfire crisis....but it was Morrison's fault it all happened....Gladys came out smelling like roses

Information from USA Today on Saturday

The U.S. counted more than 124,000 cases of coronavirus Saturday, with at least 2,100 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University data dashboard. More confirmations are expected as the U.S. ramps up testing.

About 660,000 people are known to have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and more than 30,000 have died.

For those of you who struggle with maths that is almost 5% of people who contract the disease

No that is on average 5% of those that have been tested, not all who contract the disease will be tested, and up until now I suspect the majority would not have been tested. Testing will become more widespread as supply of testing kits improve worldwide.

Actually, for those that *really * struggle with maths, that is 4.5% of people who have been tested and found positive, all over the world, including areas where either testing is not widespread or where health systems are totally overwhelmed.

In areas where testing is widespread (Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia) death rates are under 1% as well as closed systems such as the cruise ships that were isolated.

Even in the situation that you identify, the US where it is admitted that testing is insufficient, the deaths only represent less than 2% of total cases.

What is the benefit in sensationalising and misrepresenting?

That’s his plan. Because “the country wants to get back to work”. He also claimed they had it under control and 15 cases would soon be down to zero. Those are facts, not narrative

Yes you are right the %'s are based on those tested to date
But many of those that tested positive will still die
Many others that have not been tested will still fall gravely ill and die
We wont know the real numbers or %'s until this is over and it may be years in 3rd world countries
Even then the truth may never be known
Third world countries won't count real numbers and China won't release the real figures
All we really know is that it is bad and it's going to get much worse yet

Simply fake news. Here is his exact speech. When you hear it with your own ears, you know they are FACTS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8MmfceRLFU

He says it ***hopes*** it would be over by then.
At 0:24 "This will go on ***for a while*** but we will win". At 0:30 "I ***hope*** we can do this by Easter.....what a great thing that would be"...... "We will meet with a lot of people to see if that can be done". At 1.00 "My first priority is alway the health and safety of the American people ***I want everyone to understand that we are continuing to evaluate the data...***"

I am NOT a Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon supporter, I have many problems with him but I also have a massive problem with bullshit and I find myself constantly defending Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon because the MSM continually spread complete lies about what he says and it becomes the public narrative.

I have never been able to understand why he cant keep off Twitter, but now I understand becuase it is his only hope of getting unfiltered communication out. It is impossible for him to get a clear message out through the US media. It is actually disgraceful.

So the US MSM narrative is Trumo is going to open the economy Easter Friday, no matter what, heel or high water and he is an irresponsible ass with blood on his hands (despite the fact he never said that as evidenced above) meanwhile the media darling that is NYMayor Cuomo said....

https://nypost.com/2020/03/24/gov-cuomo-says-he-has-group-working-on-restarting-state-economy/
https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/489030-cuomo-we-have-to-plan-to-pivot-back-to-economic-functionality

But thats all cool because he is not a) a conservative and b) Orange.

It won't happen, as a number of his own party still have some semblance of duty and would revolt, but they are going to skyrocket anyway.

Outside of the major and international cities that were mostly affected initially by those importing the virus, then subsequently rising local numbers ahead of others, I expect that we are about to see a large political slant on the numbers for the emerging problem in areas affected almost exclusively by domestic transmission.

Preliminary reports are apparently already showing that due to the Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and Fox News, along with some Republican's earlier and/or continuing denial, a common theme is already showing up in the figures from electoral boroughs. So much so, that if anything like the normal exponential rate of infection for similar areas plays out, the difference in death numbers between most red and blue voting areas will be plain for all to see and possibly even stark.

I would like to congratulate Scott Morrison on the job he is doing. We are so lucky to have him as PM in our hour of need. Pleased we have a level head to coordinate our efforts.

Well at this point you should only compare deaths to recovery
As those who still have covid19 could go either way
From my understanding it takes two or more weeks to recover
So until all people tested fully recover you won't know the real figures

Nobody "falls gravely ill and dies without being tested"

There are ways you can determine the validity of the stats. In a closed system (cruise ships) the stats are irrefutable. In systems where there has been high levels of testing you can be more confident in the testing (Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea). Both of these areas report similar stats. You can also get a grip on the validity of stats based on consistency, EG AUstralia, where incident rates, death rates and hospitalisation rates are consistent day on day and represent overseas data (HK, Singapore etc).

It is worth noting that many of the mild cases may yet turn to critical cases as they may be in early stages of contracting the disease
But time will tell

1000% Completely wrong. Somebody who is asymptomatic at home waiting on three negative tests, is not going to add to the death toll. You realise that the way you are framing the data means that ALL of the "unresolved" cases need to die?

Again as Ive said in other posts, we need to look at systems that have large tracts of reliable data with BIG testing numbers or even better, closed systems like the diamond princess. They all represent the same figures. I dont understand the benefit in overdramatising the data.
