I’m on the central coast and Han 1st AZ shot 6 weeks ago. I specifically asked them how long I had to wait for 2nd jab and the doctor said I’ll be booked for 2nd shot at 12 weeks. He said you can get it done earlier but only if things got out of hand. I’ve just received a text from them telling me that if I haven’t booked 2nd jab to do so online it then proceeds to say you DO NOT need to wait 12 weeks in capital letters. Interesting, they must believe things have got out of hand.

I don't think so. I think it's just an attempt to get the double jab percentage as high as possible as soon as possible. It also allows the health system to focus it's energies on those with no jabs. I'm in the same boat as you. I've had one jab and am due for the second one on 1 September. I'm going to stick with that timeline because the continuing advice is AZ is most effective when the two shots are 12 weeks apart.

The next six months will be really interesting.

CEO at my work is looking to bring in a 'no jab, no job' policy once the laws support it

I've also heard my gym is planning on making vaccination a condition of membership.

The first step should be zero Covid 19 in the community, not discrimination on the basis of who has or hasn't had the vaccine.

If you choose not to get the vaccine and you don't have any underlying conditions that precludes you from being vaccinated, you categorise yourself with people who engage in behaviour that can be perceived as risky to others. There's a reason why people are now forced to smoke outside away from buildings.

The most unfortunate thing is not everyone who wants to get the vaccine can have it.

my friend booked in for Pfizer for today waited 2 hours and then was told she was not getting vaccinated as she was not from a hotspot LGA
I wonder why she was allowed to book then

I tried to book my eldest son this morning on the Service NSW site and we could not get a booking. He will be notified (of what I don't know).

seems all over the place ar them moment I was fortunate my wife works at Liverpool hospital so got Pfizer awhile ago

For me it is a personal choice. You are fully able to decide to get vaccinated if you feel after weighing up all of the information and decide that’s best for you. You are also equally entitled to decide not to get vaccinated if you feel after weighing up all of the information that is right for you
Different decisions can be made by different people based on the same information
I’d encourage everyone to consider all of the relevant information before they make their decision and ultimately make the choice that’s right for them

I don't agree with a lot that this guy posts and some of it is rightly deleted, but in the end it comes down to personal choice and as we live in a democracy, it is even more important that each of us has such an option.

The last thing that we need on an issue that not only covers possible death, but also the near to medium future of all of us and possibly even longer term, is calling people sheep or shopping relating to a very personal decision on what substance should go into their or their family's bodies.

Again for the record, I chose to get AZ earlier, but at the request of another, delayed my vaccination until Pfizer became available.

Each person has their own journey, so encourage if you wish, but please let them take their own path and at their own pace without ridicule.

Why do people deserve an option especially those over 70. I don't understand your point of view.

Can you explain it to me ?

Agree on most of that @formerguest apart from the "rightly deleted" part and there hasn't actually been much of that. Appreciate the content of your post

I agree sheeple is inappropriate and have never used it myself. Also inappropriate as you have rightly called out is ridicule such as "liar", "batshit crazy", whacky", "nutcases", "covidiots", "morons" and "psychopaths" and much of that probably should have been considered for deletion, unless it was coming from a Mod which raises other questions. This is the only time I use the thumbs down, it's always for personal abuse, never the content itself

We are not enemies here, we just have a difference of opinion, let's not let that create an artificial divide among us. We've already got enough to deal with with the Brooks divide, the Madge divide and the Russell Packer divide (oh hang on that one doesn't exist)

I really don't care about this anymore. If you don't want to get vaccinated don't. It's your risk and not mine.

I care about the people working in the health care system. I'm starting not to care about the people who will die or get really sick. It's not my problem.

I don't even care about the vaccination passports anymore. I've lowered my risk as far as I can and I'm completely fine with my risk going forward.

The downside for me and other people who think like me is are we being too arrogant. I don't mean in relation to other people. I mean are we too confident in the data and the science. It's correct now but will the picture change.

Still I'd prefer no restrictions now for me because I'm as protected as I can be.

I'll add it's got nothing to do with ridicule. The data is pretty clear cut. It's more that people don't understand or accept the facts. That isn't my problem though.

The determining factor in whether or not vaccination becomes mandatory in the workplace/society may unfortunately come down to how many people end up dying from COVID.

For businesses it'll be under workcover/insurance.

Consider the 1 in 1,000,000 chance of fatality relating to the vaccine being seen currently.

So 13-14 deaths in the Australian workforce (of a bit over 13 million.)

And consider that ~180 people already die per year in Australian workplaces.

Barely a blip on premiums - it'll be mandated, and legal to do so.

People will still have their choice not to be vaccinated, but they'll need to find alternative income streams.

Yes that is the complication. I strongly believe everyone should be vaccinated, but I also believe that people should not be forced to be vaccinated should they be able to but choose not to on personal grounds.

But, like smokers have been marginalised for the health risks they pose to others for their choice, people who wish not to be vaccinated should also come under the same sorts of restrictions. If people wish not to employ them because of the potential risks of them spreading it around work, and to other employees whom cannot be vaccinated for health reasons, well that is a marginalisation that their personal choice brings upon them.

In an ideal world, everyone, including those whom are immuno-compromised, could have the vaccine, and those whom wish not to be vaccinated could please themselves and run the risk of contracting illness and potentially long term effects or death. But it's not the case.
