I am on the process of getting/booking my booster shot - I had the pfizer - should I get Moderna or AstraZeneca this time? I've been hearing that having a different (brand) vaccine is better than getting the same one - thoughts please and many thanks.

Well put, TT.
Of the many issues here, one of the biggest is the ignorance and entitlement of many of those that chose to be vaxxed thinking that they are immune to the virus. There is a general "holier than thou" attitude from many, especially when dealing with one who chose not to be vaxxed.
Now, as telltails mentioned, we are dealing with virus spreading at Christmas parties, Westfields Christmas shopping, visits to hospitals, Christmas carnivals, etc, etc, etc.
We should ALL be tested before we cram into Mum's living room for Christmas lunch.
WE should be constantly reminded that the vax effectively does little to prevent you catching or spreading the virus.
Because what we have now is a wave of ignorantly righteous, and blindly confident people engaging in virus spreading behaviour, especially during the festive season. And these people apparently make up 90+% of our society.
Get tested. Get off your high horse. You had a jab for the virus, you didn't invent a cure for it.
GET TESTED.

The question remains...if the virus is getting weaker and is less infectious, while the original Covid had a 99.9% survival or very little effect on the kids, why do we need to jab 5--12 yr olds ? wouldnt they be better off getting Omicron for natural immunity and then if another varient comes along the effects would be even far less than a common cold...?

Kids that age enjoy their grandparents being around

Edit: although I’m all for parents choosing after deep thought at that age

At their own expense?
Good thing they can’t intelligently argue against it at that age I guess, so you get to decide for them.

Probably not the best place to get medical advice from mate. There are quite a few extremists in this thread.

How bad is this really going to get...its a weaker varient, although spreading rapidly worldwide...
UK are about to announce a nation wide lockdown starting on the 27th Dec...I suspect that other countries will follow suit,Holland has started already...
The major concern for me is that even though the hospitalisations are less and people arent as severely ill, how will this affect peoples businesses, work and most of all mental health...

We can all go live in mud huts because petrol will be $4 a litre if there is any for sale no food because of no packaging available interest rates for people paying off will go to 6 to 8 in percent
Or back to 1990 of 14 percent house prices will drop by 40 percent the wealth affect will disappear imagine if the numbers of every disease was published every day

If Australia closes it's game over and good luck with your 12 to 14 percent GST

Every think is going up in price imagine the scenes when there is no food to buy it was bad enough with the toilet

Because this is where we are heading and not many stop to think about it just close close close

Man I feel sorry for those with huge mortgages. Quite a few will lose there homes I reckon. Very sad. This pandemic will reset the worlds economies.

Just when the last dozen or so posts were made up of reasonably civil discussion, up pops a moron

so this forum has really gone down the drain - people calling each other names - "moron" really?

I miss the old posters of this forum - I've been a member for a while - I hardly post but I do read a bit and enjoy the interaction - lately it is just plain either insulting each other or someone being a troll - we can all be keyboard warriors but please know when to stop

Your point ?..if it doesnt affect the kids and it is much weaker, why should the Grans be worried if they are vaxxed...?

100% on point TT.
The individual risk reward profile of a healthy 5 yr old is a no brainer. They are not at serious risk of the virus. They are far more likely to suffer vaccine injuries and as for everyone, long term health effects are NOT KNOW.
I’ll be blunt, any grandparent who expects their grandchildren to take on risk for their sake is extremely selfish. Thankfully for them and my daughter, my parents 100% agree on that.

Apparently this is the case but I'm just getting the Pfizer which I had before. I think getting vaccinated and boosted is much more important than the brand.

thanks mate - I couldn't wait so I am getting Moderna as a booster this time - Pfizer got me the first time, back was hurting - I couldn't walk properly (needed a walking stick - lol), second shot was nothing compared to the first one - again, I do appreciate the reply - Merry Christmas mate and stay safe

Is that a side effect of the vaccine or bad injection?

I agree with you regarding the "insulting" part. Yes, to suggest that a person who makes a choice is a tinfoil hat loonie, is indeed an insult.
That's why I suggested it was a thing that a moron would do.

Reckon that without changes our health system almost/or collapses early in the new year on the back of the removing almost all QR tracing and restrictions during the week. For mine short odds it'll be back into some form of lockdown again.

Hospitalisation is way down on earlier strains when we were in lockdown. Hopefully a trend that continues

I hope so too, though with the well recognised lag time it will be around the turn of or into the new year before we know definitively.

Trouble is political wants of "staring down" or deciding that we need to "stand tall" and all such macho stances mean nothing to this virus. All the chief health officers at both state and federal levels want mask mandates across the nation to protect others, yet we have our PM and NSW premier talking about personal responsibility.

There is no responsibility involved in one doing what they want at the potentential expense of others, particularly those in retail, hospitality and of course at the front-line in hospitals.

It certainly will mate...GCR is coming very shortly...
Global Currency Reset...otherwise known as the
Quantum Financial System....with it will come a biblical JUBILEE....
that is when debt is forgiven ....

as of 15th Dec 2021,the Federal Reserve in USA is bankrupt and will be taken over by the US Treasury...
the bank of England(the royals are bankrupt) and so is the Vatican...
before you start mocking me do some research..hint the Federal reserve was PRIVATELY owned by the Rothchilds and Rockafellars....DC is the district of columbia and not part of the USA....It was a corporation....

I was in the supermarket at Lake Cathie today and bumped in to an ex colleague ( i'm retired ). We worked together in a facility that accommodated violent people with dual diagnosis for 20 years. She has been a mental health nurse for 40 odd years. Asked how she was going and she tells me she has been given to the new year to get vaccinated or her services are no longer required. She has her reasons for not getting vaxxed that relate to previous health issues. Whether those reasons are valid or not i have no idea. I'm fully vaxxed but it made me wonder about what sort of a society are we creating when people no longer have the freedom of choice and are punished with the loss of their livelihood if they don't toe the line.

I got terminated for not choosing to get vaxxed because of previous health issues, namely blood clotting...but if you dont trust the shot ...you are a conspiracy theorist....
your friends choice....I wish her well and all I can say is she will missed as an asset to the industry...wish her a merry xmas and may God bless her and the family...
