The people that run our country are a strange breed , when we return from Honolulu we have to sit in the plane on arrival and the cabin has to be sprayed this is due to certain agricultural bugs .. non the less you feel like leper’s . While sitting there for ten minutes breathing the spray a China Eastern A380 pulls in next to you and 500 Chinese from infected cities just embark and walk straight into our country no questions asked !
If you think that our country is not run by MORONS think again !!!

Once this outbreak was official all flights from China should've been stopped...not leave it a few days with up to 45 flights a day from the infected areas coming in.....makes you wonder....

Well let’s personalise this hysterical comment.

My wife is currently in China, celebrating the lunar new year with her family.

She is healthy.
She is approx 1000km from the affected area.
She is desperate to get home.
The Corona virus has been classified as low risk. Less volatile than influenza.

I’m looking forward to seeing my wife - safe, healthy and home

I was fairly calm when I wrote that, and I am sure there would be no feeling better than having her home.....for you personally I wish nothing but the best.

But on the other hand....say for instance this does get a decent outbreak in Australia and hundreds go down with even say bare minimum deaths statistically speaking, it's a whole other ballgame which potentially could've been minimized....

If you want to personalize it.....your wife gets home safe and sound fantastic!!! But say my children catch this virus through other passengers because not enough was done how hysterical should my response be?

There’s next to no chance of that happening. Look up the ch7 report from their in house doctor who quoted the stats.

But of course Id hate for your kids, or mine, to contract. But if they did, unless extremely unfortunate, they would bake a full recovery

I honestly believe it's been over reported at this point. SARS was going to be the end of humanity if you believed MSM.

Even so ...Why the hell are we allowing non Australian Citizens to come over from China just to house them in quarantine when they get sick ?

It’s a joke imo !

Death toll is now officialy 56 in China, also of concern is it is now believed that people are contagious carriers of the virus days before showing any symptoms which would have to be a massive concern for health officials

And 46 flights from China landed in OZ today ..

Sounds like they are trying to escape China
Close the boarders

Bloody oath

100% shut the boarders down with China, but I think its already too late

We rely on china on so many levels. We would be bankrupt without China.

From trade to industries like education (the international students community which makes up 60% chinese provide employment for staff in vocational education and universities) to tourism; hospitality; retail just to name a few...

Cool.
Why do u think that is?

The government agreed to send most of manufacturing and industry there (The Lima Declaration) to strengthen what was... a third world country .

Doing so lost us many jobs and stuff we coulda done in our own backyard.
.
Sad really

Yeah I think stopping all flights was going overboard .....if you had the temp checks and passed them you should have been free to come home

Problem is that it has been found that you are infectious before you show any symptoms. As soon as China started limited internal travel, **we should have banned all flights to and from Wuhan**

Pretty straight forward eh.
Government are fools.

Ok just went back through this thread and deleted posts that offend or deemed racist...

It makes it more difficult when members quote and quote the offending quote as that also results in deletion..

If a post offends in future simply FLAG the post rather than quoting it...your concerns can be then addressed through that system...

if I missed any please flag them...thank you..

Some tarnished reputation after those vile comments.

Love to all the Asians.

Google Search Results were released the other day for the past month, a big spike in search in alcohol

to be specific people were searching Corona Beer Virus lol

- The World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday it was declaring the China coronavirus outbreak that has killed 170 people in China a global emergency, as cases spread to 18 countries.

I can't make up my mind on this, one minute I think it's a media beat up, the next I think it's worse than we realise.

If this is really no riskier than the flu I find it hard to believe China would shut down whole cities and trash their economy in the process.

The worry is it seems to be very contagious and it is spreading over much of the world quicker than what normal flus do.For a country with poor health systems it could be a disaster as it would overwhelm their resources

Don't panic people Mundine has finally given a statement telling everyone its fake news and its just a ploy to trick people into getting a mass vaccine.

Keep bringing those planes in from the infected areas of China. Scomo$$$$$.... we are watching a prime minister self destructing mark my words .., looks like it is going to be the TWU that has the guts to protect our nation by closing down the airports !

The influx of Chinese students has been stabilising and in some some case dropping at universities over the past 2 years. There has been significant reduction in university staff (I'm included in that having been made redundant before xmas) due to the falling numbers of university students. Australia is no longer regarded a great place to study for overseas students primarily due to the cost.

Not one death outside of China and only just over a 100 cases worldwide outside of China.

Mate you can't spray for viruses, otherwise the Chinese planes would be stopped and gassed as well.

Pretty dumb comment.

If it gets bad enough they'll set up temperature radars like for SARS.

Also, if you think Customs and the AFP arent already screening flights from China for sick persons, you need to think again. The minute you get off any flight they are watching you and have pre-anaylsed the manifest. Source: my ex girlfriend works for Customs Border controls.

You do understand the virus is being spread before symptoms are shown .. this is not SARS ! But do not let that stop any real action at the boarder right .. but I am sure your ex girlfriend is also being drip feed by the fools above her! Ask her how she feels about being exposed to the virus by people that are healthy by our government standards

The virus is spread by droplet, not aerosol, so it is not super contagious. The virus is not long lived on surfaces so is not readily spread simply by touching an infected surface. It is unlikely that you would catch the virus simply by walking past someone infected with it. You would need to have close personal contact or be involved in face to face conversation etc for an extended period of 15 minutes or so.

Bravo Scomo has found a back bone all flights Stopped , I suppose all the Chinese students$$$$ have arrived ... saving face before the TWU did his bidding !
