2 Covid19 cases in Qld today from two women returning from Melbourne via Sydney. They have been back in Qld 8 days mixing with the community while unwell. At least one school and shopping centre are closed. As they will discover, it will have been passed on in the community. Irresponsible as I thought as per NSW they had to isolate for 14 days?
They are required to enter hotel quarantine if returning from Melbourne, they lied about being in Melbourne to avoid quarantine. One of the women is a cleaner in a school which has led to the school being closed. Just terrible and irresponsible behaviour.
Payment of quarantine fees is a short sighted approach. Very poor behaviour which will have serious imoacts on Qld.
If I was QLD I would be paying for residents of the state to quarantine if they left the state before these outbreaks occurred. Anyone who left after the outbreaks and border rules came into effect I would make pay for their own quarantine.
I wouldn't, because people will not return and go into quarantine, thus putting the community at risk.
So you would prefer them to pay for all returning residents?
If they were interstate and then the QLD government enacted border closures, why should they have to pay on their return?
People will not stump it up and they'll just go about their business, resulting potentially infected spreading to the community. I'm safely betting the quarantine costs do not exceed the continued damage this does to the economy and health system.
That is what I said?
Oh sorry I read it as if they were interstate and returned after the border closure well they should have to stump up.
