Yes looking very dicey in the US still. Though I am more concerned about Europe, which is getting absolutely smashed (264,000 new cases, 4,700 deaths yesterday), and the neighbouring region encompassing Turkey/Iran/the Caucasus (including war-ravaged Armenia and Azerbaijan).

Donny has it under control.

He doesn't even have his sun tan bed under control.

You have to take your hat off to Dan Andrews.

The bloke copped it left right and centre in the media but stuck to his guns and brought cases down from over 700 in a day to 13 days of zero cases.

Real leadership.

That’s like congratulating the arsonists for putting out the fire they started, after the house is destroyed.

Yes they made the mistakes to let it get to that point, but also did the unpopular thing as well to ensure it didn't become a France/UK/USA. It could have very easily gone the other way as well.

More like left something cooking, then put out the fire best the could and cleaned up the mess thoroughly. Things weren't perfect, but it only takes one person to move the virus and that happened to be a hotel manager, but they accepted responsibility and have since made wholesale changes. The biggest failure was also a systematic one, being the aged care catastrophe that cost the vast majority of lives, despite the knowledge that industry wide change was necessary long prior.

It must also be remembered that Andrews basically took the lead for the whole country back in March, along with Gladys to a lesser extent, with them yanking the reins from a federal government that were considering something more along the lines of the original UK approach. I expect things would have been much much worse without the urgency and extent of the initial shut-downs and as per @Papacito his resoluteness in standing up day upon day for never ending questioning whilst guiding and informing his people in a demanding months long performance.

The problem I have with Andrews is he didn’t know and his ego. Didn’t know about security guards at hotels. Didn’t know about offers to help. Wouldn’t accept expert advise on contact tracing until dragged kicking and screaming. It’s his job to know so he can make the correct informed decision. A total failure in my eyes.

Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon would come the closest as his total disregard of science makes him culpable IMO.

He is not alone n that and far far worse than Andrews, to the point of virtually no reasonable comparison, so I don't know where to go when you rate that as total failure.

One is a failure of ability in so far as to understand the people around them and what they do or should do, the other has a loss of reality.

So QLD to produce a vaccine....

Wonder if they'll share it with the rest of us?

Doubt it. Vaccine is for Queenslanders only. Queensland for Queenslanders and all
