Oh diedpretty ur a left leaning fool , chairman dan killing over 800 people with his left leaning politics . And the PM can’t intervene in state issues and he did provide great resources to the states during the fires .

So Gladys who has only killed 54 people must be a far better leader and Michael Gunner who hasn't killed anyone probably should be running the country. And I'm the fool - righto.

No leader has killed anyone in this country

It is the total disregard that some people have for this Virus, Authority and the rules that are set in place to protect us all that should be held accountable

Even the Ruby Princess passengers who contracted the virus caught this from a passenger who boarded in another country
Letting these passengers disembark was a mistake
But it is not the only path of this virus into this country
We all have our part to play in halting the spread of this virus
There are many people in this country who do not want to play their part because they are to naive or because they think they are invisible
You only need to go back to the beginning of this topic on the furum to see the differing views we all have
That is human nature, we all have our own views but in this case we should be listening to the experts
Unfortunately it only takes one person with the virus who believes they have the right to continue as normal, and before you know it there is a cluster outbreak
Now boarders are shut again and Businesses and people are suffering again
This virus is here for the next ten years or more
We just need to learn and know how to control its spread
We all play a part in that
Every single one of us

I was replying to BPtiger who suggested Dan Andrews had killed 820 people because of his policies. His post made me angry with such a stupid comment. I was using his way of thinking to show how stupid it was.

I realised that
I was more agreeing with you
I should have replied to Bptiger

There is no instant fix for this Virus
The whole world is going through it
But for those knocking the way our country/states are handling it, compare us to the rest of the world
Politicians can set the rules
It is up to all of us as individuals to follow those
rules which will give us all the best chance of staying free of this virus
Anyone bagging our Politicians should be directing their anger towards those who blatantly break these rules

Starting to worry now, even if numbers are still low, the fact that it's popping up in various parts of Sydney makes it that much harder to contain than when it was just Northern Beaches.

Australia has done so well, it would be a kick in the teeth if after all this time it spirals out of control like the rest of the world.

This is , the type of thought process I don’t understand . Partisan bull crap. Vic did a good job . Why do you have to lean one way politically to acknowledge that. The people were a bunch of morons early on , where the value they put in family functions , and protests that had very little to do with Australia , were put above the health of the person standing next to them .

This is simply not true. I agree with dropping the partisan "My side wins" rubbish, but you have to call a spade a spade when appropriate. The reason it blew up in the second wave in Melbourne was systematic incompetence that the Vic Govt was ultimately responsible for.

I was supposed to have business in Melb the week they shut down. They had HUNDREDS a day in a matter of weeks. Speaking to my business associates down there, it was pretty obvious why. Testing wasnt readily available and test resultls were taking up to 19 days to return. There was ZERO contact tracing in place and within days, tracing was irrelevant.

My associates best mate manages an aged care facility. They sent a resident to hospital for standard surgery. The resident came back to the facility. TEN DAYS LATER the HOSPITAL (Not Vic Health) rang the facility to tell them that the resident had COVID.

Vic simply screwed up, thank fully they were able to scramble reasonably well and lock it down again

Hallelujah about time .. if people do not want to do the right thing they have to be made ! It’s the spreaders that are the problem.. the economy has to remain open ! I do not like mandatory anything but this needs to happen .. I want to sit in our seats at the footy this season !

I’m meant to be attending my first cousins wedding tomorrow but an immediate family member has developed a fever and I’ve developed cold symptoms in the past couple of hours. As much as I wanted to attend I’ve just sent my apologies as it’s too late to get a test and results. Would hate to be that person to spread to my family members, especially with elderly attending... I’m expecting some backlash as many of my extended family are anti restrictions/masks etc...

Its actually not too late. West Pennant Hills testing facility, open 24hrs, results in 6-9hours

Victoria were underprepared for the outbreak absolutely. They did get it under control though which pretty much nowhere else on the planet sans South Korea, NZ and Japan whom have kinda got it stemmed or under control. Everywhere else is just chaos. And I don't trust what China (read an authoritarian regime,) says.

If NSW manages an outcome better than Victoria, I will be satisfied. Unfortunately loose cannons will cause problems. Contact tracing is only as useful as the participant being open and honest and the police cannot be everywhere to punish movement. And then you'll have sovereign citizen/libertarian morons who believe that they shouldn't have to participate in a societal activity to keep the virus under control because the government apparently can't legislate for it (obviously they can.)

Dr Chant's advice that NSW is planning ahead for the next five years in terms of Covid was positive. Her honesty in the SMH article that 'We need to remember we are continually under threat and we are never going back to normal. Covid will change our lives literally for years to come.' is refreshing.

As an Australian, I am disgusted that fellow Australiand are locked out of the State in which they reside. What is their status and what is the legality of this action? Vic Govt has a liking for harsh treatment of its residents. They have suffered significantly due to the virus and the unpreparedness of the DHHS. Surely Aus is better than harsh lockdowns and circling the wagons.

They do what need to be done. With those harsh lockdowns, it still took an awful long time to get things under control and reduce the numbers. You can't fiddle about the edges when dealing with a pandemic. I feel that is what Gladys is doing and good on her if it pays off this time. But It won't pay off every time. She'll get caught out and have a massive dilemna to deal with at some point.

There seems to be a lot of dumb luck going around Happy.

The Tourism Sector wants Jobkeeper extended for 3 months for its members. The SMH reported this today. While the pandemic has had a major impact on the sector, the border lockdowns and harsh mandating of restrictions has also had a significant impact.

While I am supportive of assistance to all sectors, the States and Territories continue to rely on the Feds to fund Jobkeeper to maintain their closed borders. WA could lock itself away indefinitely with its iron ore earnings. NSW the same with its open borders and business as usual.

So what happens when the Feds say enough? What strategy does Qld and the other States have when the closed borders cannot be sustained?

Nothing is ideal at the moment ....but unless you are going to visit family interstate I'd probably spend some time getting to know your own backyard and helping your own local tourism industry

The Warriors arrived back in Australia today to start preparing for their second season based in Australia.

Stuff tourism - bring back the Industrial Revolution and start manufacturing in this country.

Unfortunately, just like building dams / harvesting water or any other major infrastructure project, that would require vision and courage on the part of our leaders that extended beyond next week, let alone the next election.

We voted against anything even resembling that sort of stuff at the last three federal elections and along with manufacturing industry, I want a return to refining our own oil onshore, plus our universities to be educating our own first and foremost instead of running basically an international visa and immigration scheme through the sector.
