I'm onto second Pfizer next Tuesday.

Looking forward to getting it out the way.
Hit that 70% fully vaccinated number.

Let's do our part, lads.

I have to tempt fate but its an achievement that these daily numbers are staying steady. The numbers have been above 1000 for 14 days now and unless you end up in hospital, it seems to have a 14 day life before you are over it.

This means that if numbers can stay steady, although there are 1200 new cases today, effectively the 1000 cases from 14 days ago slip off the active list. It is possible at the current rate that these numbers stay like this which would mean no added burden?

Of course this is all under a harsh lockdown which is not sustainable.

I have to agree that they have stemmed the new cases this is good news .. the lockdowns are working at least ! Vaccination rates up looking good for Mid October and maybe sitting around the Xmas table .

I would think vaccination take up is having a big effect on this, 41% of the state is double dosed. It is also promising to read that NSW looks like it will get over 90% of the 16+ population vaccinated. Our first dose target for 90% looks like it'll be hit in a fortnight, with 80% first dosage to be met by Saturday this weekend.

Target dates for double doses as follows:

60% - 27 days (4th October)
70% - 41 days (18th October)
80% - 55 days (1st November)
90% - 70 days (16th November)

The 16th of November target would be a massive achievement that the state could be very proud of.

It really is a promising sign since there has been a whole host of misinformation about vaccination from a very vocal minority. It was reported a while back about 79% of people planned on getting vaxxed and there was 14% undecided. I feared that the anti-vaxxers may have been cutting through to those people but it seems that is not to be the case.

The added bonus is that once we hit that 90% rate and take up is starting to slow on first doses, you can then plan for what is required to complete NSW vaccination programme and start flooding doses into Victoria for them to catch up. Once NSW and Victoria have been taken care of, flow the doses into the rest of Australia.

What percentage do they want before lockdown is lifted?

Obviously they want as many as possible jabbed, but as Coch said they will ease at 70% and gradually open up again as the higher targets are hit.

With 90% by mid November, we'll be likely able to see families for Christmas.

I’m about to get the jab in a couple of hours. First dose. I can think of nothing better to thanks my crippling fear of needles.

You'll be right. I got my first Pfizer yesterday. Got some muscle aches and a sore injection site but other than that I am fine. No headaches, no fever and no pericarditis!

Trust me, you'd rather the prick than a ventilator.

I’ve heard about sore arms. So gonna get it in my right atm (non dominant)

It would be advisable. I got mine in the left. I also sleep on my RH side.

These figures are of the total "eligible" population not the total population. They need to be multiplied by a factor of 0.8 to get a sense of true population vaccine cover. Nonetheless, they're still encouraging numbers.

He said that in his post

It’s ok , you literally don’t feel the jab… very different to getting a blood test

He said that in his post

Yes, and i explained for others how the more accurate measure of total population can be approximated from these figures.

Yes obviously doesn't count 0-15 years which I referenced.

14th of October is when there will be a test opening up of some of the suburbs.

2 days too late for my birthday

Depends where you are. How vaxxed communities will open earlier the the lower vaxxed communities.

I have my second jab next Thursday. Just wanna get it over and done with so I can get to sporting events again.

I get my second one in three weeks. Just want to be fully vaxxed to protect my wife and son.

Been stuck in Marrickville for the past 8 weeks. My dad lives in West Leigh so that's something to look forward to when we do open up.
