I was up at our local Liquorland and the young lady behind the counter thanked me for wearing a mask. She was wearing one as well. All other customers were not. Some of our residents have lost all sense of proportion. A simple face mask can protect others.

Do you have the virus? Showing symptoms? If not, what did wearing the mask do for her?

If she was so fearful, stay home. Simples.

If you are so fearful, stay at home. Simples.

If you are double vaxxed and it does what is promised, why the fear? Trust the Science

Herd immunity as a realistic concept died out ages ago. I don't think anyone has said the current increase in cases was due to the relaxation of restrictions today.

Has anyone said any of that stuff ?

The new Virus can get past the old antibodies so that's gone out the window when the new variant arrived.

There are some interesting points on vaccination and this variant.

1. Does the vaccine keep us out of the hospital/ICU stop us from dying ?
2. How do the unvaccinated do in relation to staying out of hospital/ICU/dying ?
3. Can the health system handle this variant ?

We don't know the answer to these questions. At this point we have promising data from South Africa but it's one countries data.

The data from South Africa says basically this variant is milder and we should be okay. In saying that they are pushing boosters in the UK and I personally want my booster asap.

Good to see you are back Earl. I was worried our resident internet COVID expert was gone and I'd be bereft of this invaluable font of knowledge and wisdom.

Kerry Chant appears to believe the wearing of a mask is a simple but effective means of reducing transmission. I am more than willing to comply with her advice and wear a mask.

As for the shopkeeper, she obviously appreciated wearing of a mask.

Yes I am double vaccinated. Being double vaccinated does not prevent the acquiring of the disease nor does it prevent transmission. The washing of hands, distancing and the wearing of masks are simple but effective means of reducing the risk of transmission.

I don't want to see businesses destroyed or lives ruined when transmission can be reduced. That is all.

Liquorland have deep pockets and I havent seen too many pensioners with co-morbidities serving customers there Champ. Both the business and the whisp of a lass behind the counter will be fine.

It is looking more and more likely not getting the vax is the right decision. I am happy I stayed strong and didn’t follow the hurd. Mask wearing and social distancing is the only way to avoid Omicron at the stage. We still don’t know the long term effects of the vax on the body, this whole thing has been a huge cluster$&@$&.

this thread is contagius, the last few days its given me a headache and flu like symptoms,up until then the banter was mainly educational

Science and their colleagues in NSW health recommended to government earlier this week that masks remained mandatory in almost all the then current settings.

The want of the relatively few votes that may maintain power comes at a cost to those still serving us life's basic needs in a daily basis and much more to those manning hospital and rehab wards.

7 cases in hospital, all are not fully vaccinated. But if you want to not be vaccinated then it's up to you. Most of the people who contract it who are vaccinated just do home isolation. Make of that as you will.

I have a son with an underlying health condition. Despite having received his booster, the threat of bringing Covid home to him is very real. A few precautions can reduce that risk.

A lot of these people, scientists, doctors, hospital workers etc have sites on the internet....it cant all be a cesspool...

The ones I know are too busy working to maintain websites.

A lot worked during the height of the pandemic online re consulting and also gave much advice on their WEBSITES...there is quite a bit of info from international doctors who wanted to give advice to the needy...

So many new daily cases. Amazing. And those dirty unvaxxed are spreading this like wildfire. It must be them. Even though they make up just 10% of society. How is it even possible ?
It surely couldn't be the noble double vaxxed doing the spreading, could it ?
The WT employee last week. He tested positive, but how is that possible ? He wasn't a dirty conspiracy head, he was a double vaxxer !!! All the staff are double vaxxers !!! How on earth could it spread ?
And we were told that herd immunity kicked in at . . . was it 60% ? . . . but here we are at 90% and all of a sudden we have to doubt the information that was forced down our throats ??!!!
I'm waiting for the Nobel prize winning mensa grads to suggest the spread of cases is due to restrictions being eased at 9.00am this morning.

You’re making too much sense GYGT’s.
And these people are not in the market for anything, factual or probable, that threatens THEIR narrative.
It’s sad that they can’t see reason, but some people just need to piss on the electric fence for themselves 🤷‍♂️

7 cases in hospital, all are not fully vaccinated. But if you want to not be vaccinated then it's up to you. Most of the people who contract it who are vaccinated just do home isolation. Make of that as you will.

Thanks for confirming that it’s my choice Swag, appreciate it. Feel much better. I’m glad you’re coming round.
