More great news NOT

Cummins has been ruled out for the Australian summer with a stress fracture in his back

What are these kids made of? Tissue and spit?

Moreover, have to feel sorry for Khawaja getting the punt… When are they going to give some players some security and say "we'll give you 2/5/10/100 to prove yourself" rather than leave the dagger hanging?

Starc and Faulkner in for Khawaja and Bird. I don't think this batting line-up is strong enough to deal with the dropping of a specialist batsman for a bowling all-rounder.

To be fair, if Faulkner scores 20 runs he's in front of Khawaja.

You have to wonder who the next cricket captain will be. Traditionally a batsmen will get the nod at around their 28s 29s but with the axe hovering over all of the 23s ad 24s, how could they possibly develop into a test captain.
That being said I think, if he improves his technique against pace, Steve Smith is a leader of the future. Plenty of leadership experiece already there for sixers and NSW and if he can retain his spot and actually post big scores then it is there for the taking

Otherwise we someone like a James Pattinson/Faulkner might be sensible given the plight of Aussie batting at the moment…

Steve Smith , you are kidding right

He doesn't command a spot as a batsman ,or as a bowler

he's risky now but if he works hard and fixes his technique he could become a very good batter, getting his average up to around 40-45\. And the selectors seem to favour him having played all 5 tests in this series. A couple of fifties so far and hopefully 😛ray: a hundred tonight will really cement his place in

Draw coming I'd say

I don't think England can score the runs quick enough to give themselves a chance and on that featherbed I can't see Australia taking 20 wickets in 3 days

Hope I'm wrong ,a bit of a positive going back to Australia might just be the confidence we need

Gonna need an absolute miracle if it's not to be a draw….Already looking forward to the return bout in November now.

I for one agree with Boof/Faulkner and hope the Australian public give it to this arrogant, smug bunch of wankers (Broad being a standout) from the word go. For mine watching us lose to these guys is almost as painful as watching my Tiges lose.

On the series itself, funnily enough the end result makes for worse reading than the 2010-11 Ashes (3-1) though that series we copped 3 demoralising innings defeats and were largely outplayed at Brisbane for the draw. In this series, Australia could've very easily been 3-1 up with favourable weather/patient, solid batting.

How is what Broad did any different to this?

And as far as England being a bunch of arrogant smug wankers, that may be true, but you gonna say the Aussie teams of the Waugh and Ponting era's didn't behave the same way? A bit of balance would be nice instead of cultural bias.
