Sledging has been a big part of cricket for years and all teams do it,some better than others. the main thing is it dosnt get personal and is left on the field. Also if you dish it out than you have to be able to cop it when it is directed at you. A bloke like Warner has to be careful he is riding a big wave at the moment but it could dumb him hard at anytime. We have to be careful we don't give the Poms to much extra motivation to turn things around

Warner would be easy to sledge , something along the lines of "What was SBW and Joe Root doing at your missus's house " for starters

Warner would just have to reply that both Falzon and SBW are huge Ellen DeGeneres fans.

lol u know something is not right when there is more discussion on the sledges than the actual game.

both teams have moved on- we should too.

as for trott- wish him a healthy and fast recovery. he is in the mould of amla, dravid etc. who put a lot of value on their wicket. cricket needs more of them.

bairstow will most likely be his replacement. it's wierd how they had the exact same batting line up iirc throughout the ashes in england- but after 1 test through injury or whatever they're forced to make a change.

hope bailey and smith get to play out the entire ashes no matter what their scores are. both have potential and the mental toughness to succeed.

cant wait till the sydney test

totally agree with you mate. that has been the problem with us we keep players (kawaja, hughes) for a few games and if they are doing bad we drop them straight away. they should all be given a chance over a period of time to get a decent score and not be looking over their shoulder every time they get a score under 20\. i think smith has got real talent and i hope he can succeed at this level.

Agreed.
I think Smith will unless he England get the absolute wood over him. He's somewhat solidified his position and was scoring plenty of runs before the series. His fielding was flawless and his leg spin is underused.
Bailey I think could be in trouble from Matthew Wade for some reason. There is an obsession from some to have him in the team as a batsman if Haddin is the keeper and he has some experience, so he's an easy in if Bailey doesn't do anything to solidly his spot

My worry in this series is the short turnaround between Adelaide and Perth. Adelaide will be very tough work with this new drop-in and the WACA is a very good chance to get a second win if we don't get it in Adelaide (which I think will be a draw). The workload on Harris and Watson could prove to be too much. Watson wouldn't be a massive loss (Doolan a specialist 3 and around the team would take his place I think) but Harris would hurt a lot. He keeps it right and England (especially Cook) don't like his bowling.

2nd test has started in Adelaide. The Poms batting looks a bit light with an all-rounder on debut at 6 followed by the out if form Prior and a long tail. Panesar I think is a good inclusion on a pitch that offers the quicks next to nothing.

Warner will be spewing with the shot he played. He was on fire and then played the same shot Rogers did at the GABBA gifting his wicket with a tame cut shot.

The pitch looks a real road. It will be tough for the bowling sides. Pressure is the way you'll get wickets unless the batsman gift them to you.

From ESPN Cricinfo ball-by-ball commentary before play when the teams were announced:

"Not enough runs? SHORTEN your batting card. Genius, England *facepalm*"

The most picturesque ground in Australia has been destroyed because the Victards didn't want both teams playing out of the Football ground. A concrete drop in track and an abortion of a redevelopment.

That was my thinking when I saw the English team. Prior is out of form at 7, their tail isn't wagging and they've selected an all-rounder at 6 who apparently doesn't excel too much at either bat or ball. If we get through the openers, Pieterson and Bell; the rest could be skittled for not much.

Whatever the reasons were, I still think it looks great

There is no way the Adelaide Oval would have got the cash for the development if all that's played there was a test match, a couple of one-dayers and a few domestic 20/20 matches. Adelaide Oval is so much more closer to the city then the football ground too so the football fans don't have to trouble anywhere near as far. The vast majority of fans are very happy with the redevelopment and how it's turning out.

All 3 batsman have given their wickets away and two new batsman are playing some reverse swing and spin.

Watson got frustrated and played a scoring shot to a good ball. And Rogers lost concentration and played at one he shouldn't have.

Batsman not going on with it when they have starts are how you lose matches. Definately inviting England back into the game here.

I haven't seen us lose one wicket yet

Lost one while hanging out the Xmas lights and two while mowing the lawn

Bloody housework , we'd be 0-180 otherwise

Saw that one though

Smith's footwork pfft

Spinner's should be able to play spinners

We need runs from Bailey now

Yeah it was definately ordinary footwork. Uncharacteristic from Smith who usually plays spin very well. Another mental lapse from an Aussie batsman.

I don't think this pitch is as much of a road as we all first thought. Scoring is not so easy when the ball is in the right areas. This pitch will deteriorate further. It's already spinning a bit on day one and a couple have bounced through to the keeper and stayed a touch lower on the batsman. It's a bit dustier then usual so I think just could be a result, something I was not very confident in before the test started.
