Cricket Season Thread

Am I the only one who feels there's a gross overreaction by Australians and the Australian media? Not many teams win in India, in fact I'd be surprised if India has lost / drawn more than 5 matches in last 2-3 years.

Add to that, Patel, Jadeja and Ashwin is probably the best spinning trio in the last decade!

The earlier comments on here about Warner and his family, very un-called for.

Also, I think Australia is still first in the WTC!

Such crazy reactions.

Hope to see Green, Starc and Hazelwood back with Cummins out of the third test.

Any other openers in the Aussie squad beside Renshaw? Warner has had one good inning in the last year.
Maybe, coz imo I think the media and public have got every right to be pissed off.
It’s not the losses it’s the way we lost. If we had strained every sinew and been beaten I’m sure we would have taken that a darn sight better.
The challenge in sport is to “test” yourself against all comers, especially the really good ones, and find a way to win.
That starts with your mind and heart, 2 things that I believe are sadly lacking at present. Then throw in our skill sets and boy that’s terrible.

Matt Short has to be the most talented all round cricketer in Australia today maybe he would be handy for the back end of India tour and the Ashes tour ?

Just stumbled upon this thread and felt obliged to make a comment. To be quite honest, I have to confess to being a bit of a sports tragic. I follow most sports, have favourite teams in all of them, both domestic and international and I probably spend far too much time reading about them!

Anyway, I must apologise for making a comment here when I haven't read any of the preceding entries. Firstly, I am basically a neutral supporter of cricket. Born in England, becoming an Aussie from 4 years onwards, I actually don't support either of those. Actually, weird I know, but I tend to root for the underdog or any country who exhibits style, good sportsmanship and good, old fashioned class.....used to love the West Indies in their heyday....how good were Viv Richards, Gordon Greenidge, Lawrence Rowe, Brian Lara, Andy Roberts, Curtly Ambrose, etc, etc?

Ok, to the point, I thought Australia's second innings performance in the second Test versus India was absolutely woeful. Poor technique, poor strategy, poor application and, dare I say it, a complete lack of guts! Also, should the capitulation be attributed to questionable player decision making or poor coaching? And please don't reply by saying Jadeja, Ashwin and Axel were brilliant. Jadeja admitted that he simply bowled at the stumps and waited for the mistakes. Actually, when asked the question, 'Did you think the sweep was a good idea?' he responded with 'Probably not on that wiicket.' Finally, what was Cummins thinking by;
1. Playing that ridiculous shot to throw his wicket away?
2. Not bowling himself in the second innings?
I like Cummins but has he lost the plot?

By the way, the only cricket that interests me in the slightest is Test cricket. Anyone agree?

Can someone explain the debacle of selecting Green Starc and Hazelwood for this tour? The Border/?Gavaskar trophy is now decided and these three were not fit enough to play at all. Whose fault is this ? someone should be made responsible for this massive fail? The selectors? The boys club coach Ronald Mc Donald? Cummins?
How do you get three mistakes with injury. It beggars belief
No way Green was getting picked ...typical Sandgroper loves the fast bowling ......can't play spin

Watching Poms vs NZ and Harry Brook looks ominous re Ashes England were 3-21 after 7 overs Now 3-224 after 51 overs BROOK 125 not out

Watching the cricket will feel a bit empty today without Davey Dubya to laugh at.
And there's a cheat in as captain for this one.
Go India👍
